I would add to this list a few shifts I am found of, both in the short-term and long term.

  1. Cure Illness & Disease: Yes, we can say that. It’s true, and scientifically proven. Fasting, a common form of detox, reduces cholesterol, inflammation, reverses diabetes, epilepsy, and even reboots your immune system causing a further cascade of cures into wellness.
  2. Sets a Water Standard: When you’re fasting you drink a lot of water. We are all under-hydrated to the point of causing disease. You should be drinking enough water to have 10 long, fulfilling bladder evacuations each day. Count em. See where you’re at.
  3. Understand Your Addictions: Yes, Dr. Hyman talks about “Eliminating Cravings” but if we just eliminate them, we don’t understand them. The first thing to note, is some cravings are good. They tell us what vitamins and minerals we’re deficient in. Just ask my pregnant wife. Others show us what we’re addicted too. Some are physical foods like sugar and carbs. Others are emotional drivers that we sooth with sugar and carbs. “#9 Discover a deeper connection with yourself” combined with #7 Eliminate Cravings” = my #3 – Understand Your Addictions. Then make peace with them. That’s when it’s time to let those cravings go forever.

Today marks the first day of my Ease-In to my 10th annual Master Cleanse, with my first starting back in 2005, which was a well documented and epic failure.

However, I am grateful today for all the success and abundance The Master Cleanse has brought into my life, and as my life is about to drastically change, with the birth of my first child in early October. change is in the air, soooooo…

I have decided to make this years cleanse a personal program that uses the time and mindset of the process of The Master Cleanse as the framework to “hack” my mind and life into a drastic change that I feel is perfectly timed to declare to the myself (via the entire world), that I am committed to becoming a father my daughter can be grateful for.

So I set about deciding what I wish to change in my life, or what system I wish to cleanse, or which element I wish to detox from, and for me, worry was always at the top of my list, as you might have gathered from the title of this article.

My Commitment to Create New Habits

For months, indeed years, I have been reading about various methods of change, and most recently I spent a sporadic and emotionally turbulent 30 day period with the book “Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself –How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One” by Dr. Joe Dispenza, which was an incredibly powerful period in my life for many what (most of which I’ll leave for another article), but two in particular.

1st, it shown a great big spotlight on a habit of being I badly wanted to change; worry, which had the unfortunate added magnification of coming during a time I was very worried about my health, my life-choices, and how I felt about myself.

Worry was everywhere, as it turned out.

2nd this period showed me that as I do one thing, I do everything.

Yes, I did the meditative exercises most days.

I was sort-of committed.

And I told myself that’s because I was “flexible” –a lifestyle and belief I had meticulously crafted for as long as I’ve been Master Cleansing.

And this half-assed commitment –as it turns out, led me to yet another worry– that I wouldn’t achieve the “success” of my dreams. That I wouldn’t see come to life the visions I had for products I wished to develop, changes I wish to see in the world.

I was, no, I am worried that I wouldn’t matter, in the end.

That I will cave towards a path of least resistance, and succumb to a belief that I just wasn’t good enough to execute such delusions of grandeur.

What’s more, even if I were to persevere towards my dreams, worry still abounds: How would I pay for these business ventures? How will I have enough time to surf? Will I have enough energy left to be a good husband, partner, and father?

I had successfully achieved exactly what I had set out to with my “Freedom 35″ agenda just 5 years ago.

I had a passive income producing business that yielded enough revenue to support my travel, surf, explore, flexible, 3-hour work-day lifestyle.

And it was amazing.

But that was so 90’s.

Now that I am 40, that belief is no longer serving my higher self who wishes to produce value on another level.

What I next desired needed an evolution to my systems.

So, I get to re-program and re-design the next 5 years of my life.

Thankfully, my beliefs attracted plenty of opportunities to be exposed to new ideas, especially through my lovely wife/partner/baby-momma, who was always sending me youtube videos on all sorts of topics (like this one, and this one) that were always, seemingly, leading with one single idea that can wipe worry away with a single thought:

Gratitude.

When I realized, finally and clearly that worry is the anthesis of gratitude it became clear that gratitude would be at the center of crafting for myself a 30 Day “Custom” Master Cleanse Program.

Having just design The Master Cleanse Program as a foundation for such a customized version of The Master Cleanse, and having recently been through some rather intense “Emotional Intelligence” training, and the aforementioned 30 Day un-committed effort of meditation and breaking bad habits, I now feel invigorated, motivated, and committed to this 30 Day “Worry Cleanse” that I’ve crafted just today as part of the very process and which is based on all that’s been mentioned and linked to heretofore.

Before I layout the program I will briefly summarize the objectives stated in the affirmative (with the negative in parenthesis, which is exactly the mindset I will let go of):

My Objectives (and Fears)

  1. To be grateful each day in all that enables my life. (To not worry about “HOW” it’s all going to happen).
  2. To commit to a schedule, and a project, and taking massive action towards its ultimate completion. (To not let flexibility rob me of productivity).
  3. To be accountable to my commitment by sharing my progress. (To not secretly know it’s ok to never start because no-one will ever know I didn’t want to).
  4. To be focused and empowered to follow my highest excitement. (To not let others agendas, and views dissuade me from following my dreams).
  5. To develop new habits of leveraged productivity that allow scalable, sustainable and holistic growth. (To no think I need to work harder, or more, and that I’ll never be able to do it, at least never be able to do it alone, or worse won’t be able to attract the support needed to do it as a team).

The last one is extremely important and sits at the center of this endeavor.

I will develop new habits.

I will be productive on the level that allows for the realization of my dreams.

I will do so while exercising regularly, eating well, loving all-day every-day, and being grateful for each single moment.

Which means, I get to leave you hanging before I reveal “The 30 Day Worry Cleanse Program” (which officially starts Monday September 1st.

Because, I get to be committed to an aspect of the program I’ve designed which dictates 60 minute work sprints, but don’t get me started.

I’ll get back to this tomorrow, as I continue my Ease-In to this Master Cleanse.

Question:

The Cannabis Cleanse is as much about the harmful effects of alcohol and “cleansing” or detoxing of alcohol from your diet as it is about the fact that this amazing plant is not only medicinal, but also far less harmful than alcohol, and it’s time we treat it that way, according to this recent ad that was just placed in the U.S during a major televised sporting event.

cannabis-cleanseWhat’s more, let’s take note at how seemingly the entire world is “coming” down from the counter-productive and hysterical high of “reefer madness” propaganda force fed to us for 75 years.

Not only has Colorado, and Washington legalized “Weed” for recreational purposes (and suffered surprising little fights or overdoses like from alcohol) but the New York State Governor has just announced reform to their medical marijuana laws, which frankly don’t go far enough in joining the 20 other states who led the way, and over 10 more with plans to legalize, decriminalize or medicalize (yes this is not a word, and no I am not sampling the product ahem at the moment). Thankfully, even whole countries are starting to understand the hypocrisy and harm our current drug laws have propagated.

There has been a long and a never ending debate on whether marijuana should be legalized or not. Here are some of the reasons why marijuana should be legalized.

The state of the States (laws) 2013

It’s not a gateway drug- Many people thinking that using marijuana would lead them to use other drugs as well. This is not true because studies show that people who used marijuana first used other drugs in correlation and not because of causation. Also, more than half the population in America has already tried the drug at least once.

Low risk of addiction- It has been proven that only about 9-10% of the adults who used marijuana got addicted to it which is very low as compared to cocaine where the addiction rate is 20%, heroine where the addiction rate is 2% and tobacco which has the highest addiction rate of 30%.

Death due to marijuana overdose is not possible- It is a common misconception that an overdose of marijuana might kill you. Till date, not a single death has been reported due to overdose of marijuana. But in 2010, 38,329 people died from drug overdoses, 60% of which were prescription drugs.

Marijuana has positive attributes – Marijuana has great medical value. It is useful in helping cure a lot of ailments. It is safer than alcohol and therefore can be used as a recreational drug and is a much better way to relax.

Very little side effects- Marijuana has very little side effects and most people develop tolerance to them and those who do not, mostly stop using the drug.

Marijuana The Wonder Drug

It’s no wonder why many call Marijuana a wonder-drug, even a super food (yes you can eat it), having been shown to benefit those with: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, arthritis, depression, morning sickness,  Cancer, HIV AIDS, chemotherapy and the list goes on and on.

What’s more, today, most doctors would prescribe medical marijuana to patients according to a recent survey showed that more than three quarters of the doctors would prescribe marijuana to their patients if they are allowed to by law. This is the irony of the fact that doctors can’t recommend the medicine even if they want to. A recent study concluded the fact that 76 percent of the physicians said that they will definitely recommend pot if they are allowed to.

A study done by University of California Center for Medicinal Cannabis gave very positive results about prescription of the medical marijuana. The results showed that medical cannabis can definitely act as a pain reliever for the patients suffering from HIV, diabetes, sleep disorders, etc. Medical marijuana can be helpful as an appetite stimulant, antispasmodic and even has many analgesic effects. Various side effects of chemotherapy can also be cured with it. Nausea and vomiting which come along with chemotherapy have known to disappear with medical marijuana.

But what about this so-called “Cannabis Cleanse” you might ask, and what does this have to do with cleansing and detox?

Well, the first step to any cleanse or detox is to stop putting the toxins in your body in the first place. And the seriously harmful alcoholic cousin in the recreational fun-drug family should be consumed much less, that is often is to obtain any benefits from its ingestion beyond the buzz its popular for. (although it might be noted that it’s possible that liver damage from drinking has recently been shown to be mitigated by marijuana, so if you’re going to drink, maybe taking Mary Jane to the party will prolong your life, and the party.

Now, I won’t go into how to detox yourself from the cheetos, twix and KFC you’ll probably be craving (I am talking to you Frank the Tank).

The Abs Diet combines strength training with dieting. The strength training, which focuses on the abs, takes just 20 minutes a day, three to four times per week. 

It does not involve cutting back on calories: you can have six meals a day, and each meal must include a specific “power food.” These low-fat, muscle-building foods include almonds and other nuts, beans and legumes, spinach and greens, dairy, oatmeal, eggs, turkey and other lean cuts, peanut butter, olive oil, whole grains, extra protein, and berries.

The Juice Cleanse

Do You Need a Cleansing Diet?

It all depends on how you feel, says Haas. If you feel and look good and are already eating healthy foods, you can probably skip it. Also, those who are underweight or nursing should not cleanse.

However, if you have been experiencing headaches, fatigue, allergies, depression, or joint pain, you would be a good candidate. A thorough cleanse could help you get rid of these health issues.

Cleansing All Year Round?

Many people detox just to lose weight, but later find it becomes a lifestyle. There are those who find that their whole relationship with food has changed, and that they are able to let go of former habits such as eating to relieve stress or sadness.

“It’s about eliminating destructive habits,” Haas says. “And that means dealing openly with emotions.”

Often, the foods that you use in your cleanse can become your new favorite foods. Vanessa King, a nutritionist and guest speaker at the cleansing-foods talk, says:

“If we’re able to let go of people who don’t love us back, maybe we can do the same with food. Love the foods that love you back.”

Five Rules of the 7 Day Detox

1. Use Only Whole foods: This means food like fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and meat etc. “When you eat packaged foods, only buy brands that contain “real food” ingredients—ingredients you easily recognize, can pronounce, and would use to make a “from scratch” version in your own kitchen,” says Sass.

2. Keep It Simple: Don’t use too many ingredients in your meals. As long as you’ve got lean protein, healthy fat, and whole grains covered in each meal, you’re good.

3. Eat Slowly: “Put your fork or spoon down between every bite, and focus on the flavors and textures of your food,” Sass suggests.

4. Eat Regularly: Try to eat at least every four hours. By not leaving too much time between meals, you are going to be less likely to binge. Also, regular meals help keep your metabolism running at optimum level.

5. Listen to Your Body: “Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full, meaning satisfied, not stuffed,” says Sass. The recipes provided by SHAPE don’t state the amounts of any ingredient. In this way, you can let your body decide exactly how much food you need.

SHAPE has created dinner ideas for each day, but this diet also gives you the chance to be creative in the kitchen and try different combinations of ingredients using these simple rules.
