Hi,

I know you guys aren't "experts" but I'm on day five, 3rd cleanse, and I have a terrible cold since yesterday! I don't know what to do. My feeling is that food wouldn't really help, and what better to drink than tons of vitamin C, but I feel like shit and want chicken soup. Any advice? The book says nothing about this.

Thanks,

Joan

We're almost there! Honestly, I didn't think we'd make it this far. For us, the WORST is tv commercials, especially the ones showing big juicy hamburgers. Your mind does play tricks trying to convince you of ways to cut the fast short. My husband Michael and I have both had dreams about "cheating." One involved a burrito consumed whole, another, a box of chocolates! We are experiencing almost the identical reactions/effects you are, minus the flu-like symptoms. (A friend who did the cleanse two weeks before us reported feeling "hungover" the first two days.) We eat generally pretty healthy & organic and have eliminated most harmful products from our home, so maybe we're cleaner inside than we thought. He did have a bad headache the first two days, but chalked that up to quitting coffee cold turkey, whereas I tapered off. I, oddly, have had a strange, intense anxiety the past two days, not so bad today. I did read on some other site somewhere that this can be a side-effect, possibly due to the body's reaction to thinking it's starving. Who knows. We have been doing some short runs every other day. Our small town of Bisbee, AZ town has lots of fun stairs to run, so we tackle those slowly. There's definitely more energy overall, but a noticeable lack of intensity & strength. We are sleeping better and waking up more alert and refreshed. Most of our hunger is in the evenings about 5-9pm. Michael has experienced about the same weight-loss you have. He's at around 185 right now. I have only lost 6 lbs (!) BUT, (and here's for you women out there) I am also about to start my period in a few days and am retaining fluid just like always. I expect to shed another 5 lbs immediately after it starts. I haven't noticed any weakness per se, but we'll see in a few days... I feel as if I have lost more than just the 5 lbs though and my pants are fitting looser for sure.

Keep up the good work! Thank you again for the great site. -Tamara & Michael
