Get Relief for Sore Muscles

The way to achieving your workout goals is often fraught with obstacles such as injuries and over-strained muscles. Seeking relief for sore muscles often means giving up your workout routine, but it doesn’t have to.

Muscles that ache after a good workout end up getting stronger, though the process is painful. To relieve the aches and pains of sore muscles, here are a few suggestions.

Get Relief for Sore Muscles with Easy Exercise

While extreme exercise should be avoided, a little  “hair of the dog” for your muscles can help relieve the pain of a strenuous workout. Gentle stretching or a walk or jog would be ideal.

Fruits and Berries

Load up on antioxidants, such as the ones found in blueberries, cherry juice, and pomegranates. These fruits and berries all have anti-inflammatory properties that will speed your recovery. You can also snack on berries before going for a workout to prevent major aches.

Enjoy a Massage

Massage is amazing at relieving tightness and inflammation. Even if you can’t afford professional massage, there are some techniques for self-massage.

Hot or Cold Temperatures

If you’re not afraid of cold water, an ice bath might be just the thing to soothe your pain. Stay up to 5 minutes in a bath that’s anywhere between 54-59 degrees, or alternately a hot bath.

Applying ice packs or heat packs has also been known to work. You could even alternate 15 minutes of ice with 15 minutes of heat, starting with the heat pack and ending with the ice pack for best results.
