Group Cleanse Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for the Topic of Detox and The Salt Water Flush for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush

The Salt Water Flush (SWF) might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system. What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?

    Ease-in day 1
Hi cleansers, I am getting excited about the cleanse an the detox I know my body needs, I’m a conscientious eater for the most part, but there are lots of things I’d like to change about my body or let’s say help. And there are so much in our daily lives that we need to clean out of our system! I know live in a town, which I’m around a lot more of the day to day chemicals, I usually live In the country.
This past fall I got hit with a terrible terrible cold an twice, second time was a quarter of the first time but that was because I took homeopathic a and some sleeping pills to sleep through the coughing. Anyways a few winters ago I did 2 master cleanses and that winter I was around kids, family and my job is taking care of a sick person and I didn’t get even as much as a sniffly nose. From these colds this winter my body just wount let go off leftover mucus and its so annoying, I am looking forward to SWF to clean myself out. Challenging thing for me is to get up early enough to time for the elimination at home;)
    Well happy cleansing everyone:)

    Ease-In Day 1

I was surprised to find that the Smooth Move tea comes in different flavors! There was chocolate, peppermint and others. I opted for the peppermint since I think that helps for settling upset stomachs.

I am most excited about the salt water flush. I think the combo of the SWF and the laxative tea will be quite effective for me. I have a relatively sensitive gut but suffer from constipation a lot. So I probably have all sorts of backup to release….ick sorry for the gross detail. Better out than in right!

    Oy, I forgot my tea while I’m writing…be back in 3, 2, 1….

Ok, yummy Green Tea with jasmine and orange…mmmm… I have to remember to keep hydrated which will hopefully help stave off any major headaches. This chick don’t do headaches too well. Not looking forward to that.

Pre-Cleanse. 1 Day till Group Cleanse

I think now more than ever, now that I am coming out of denial I am becoming aware of the real levels of toxicity in my body. I got some blood work done a couple months ago, got my thyroid checked. Everything was within normal range. Which goes to show how versatile and powerful our kidneys and colon are at cleaning out our blood-stream. BUT, I feel toxic. I know there are a bunch of toxins locked away safely in my fat cells right now. And it will be painful when those are released during the cleanse. I am prepared for the discomfort, but I know I don’t have to like it.

The SWF is what I’m really concerned about and why I went back to read more about on the website. I want to make sure I do this part right. I’m going to have to find some pretty powerful laxatives, teas and sea salt. I really want all that stuff out of me.

When my boyfriend and I came back from our weekend of nature-loving and hiking, I felt physically aweful. I wasn’t active enough to have lost any significant amount of weight, but maybe something was released into my system. We got back Sunday evening any by Tuesday morning I woke up with the nausea and diarrhea. I didn’t eat anything strange the night before and my boyfriend didn’t have any symptoms of any sort. Did I stir things up with the weekend activity/exercise? Possibly, hopefully.

Pre-cleanse. 29 Days till Group Cleanse.
I’ve been taking the baby steps toward the Group cleanse by hitting the switch on several bad habits already.

    (1) Not drinking enough water; herbal teas!!! no sugar…make the H20 go down easier

    (2) not moving out of my seat enough; drinking more water forces me to go pee A LOT!

    (3) pretending like the problem will go away if I ignore it; the time has come – and I know it. I’ve hit my point of “will” return and know that it’s now or never. The aches and pains are mounting and I know I am strong enough to change. It will be hard but not impossible.

    (4) not making myself accountable; I’ve reaching out for help. I told my boyfriend of my intentions for January and he seems pretty supportive so far. I’ve made a list of the kit I need, things to purchase.

    (5) convincing myself a healthier lifestyle is unattainable or too expensive; I’ve been asking some friends I know would be supportive where they shop for food and how those places compare in price to other mainstream grocery stores. To my surprise, if I continue to be a conscientious shopper I will probably spend no more than I’m already spending on food. Go figure.

So this is actually Pre-Tox of my body (with water/tea) and I’m flushing my brain of of all negativity and fear with positive action NOW.

Lemonade Diet Day 2 – First time cleanse – SWF
This is my first time doing the cleanse. I have followed the instructions of the website, and it’s been very helpful. I saw all the comments on the salt water flush and through doing a little more research, I found a suggestion to put the sea salt in capsules and take them with lukewarm water instead of trying to drink the mixture first thing in the morning.
So this was my first day to do the SWF, and I took the capsules with 1 quart of water. WOW!!! Within 5 minutes I was vomitting, and it went on for about 10 minutes. It was horrible! I actually think I vomitted up almost all of the sea salt, so the bowel movement 15 mins later was very minimal.
I have decided not to try the flush again, and just do the laxative tea at night. I realise that drinking the mixture may have helped it stay down, instead of using the capsules, but it was so unpleasant that I’m not willing to give it another try.
So if you are a newbie like me I suggest you don’t try the capsules, cause it may turn you off the flush, like it has done to me.

    Ease-Out – Day 3 …

I decided that I wasn’t going to do a SWF today and was going to let my body expel its waste on it’s own.
I am still taking my Magnesium Oxide in the evenings. I treat that more like a supplement anyway, it just happens to help in the nether region too :)

What I was maybe thinking about doing for the future, was for every Sunday to maybe do a Lemonade Day regardless of what plan I am following.
I thought it would end up the week gone quite well and also give my digestive system a chance to rest up for the week ahead.

I then figured that come Monday morning, I could do a SWF to start the week off.
Does anyone have a opinion on this, or do they know anyone who routinely does a Lemonade day every week? I’ve heard of people fasting one day a week for health reasons, but not heard of anyone do a Lemonade day. It can’t be bad for you, can it?

Anyway, that was just a passing thought moving on into the future.

So, it’s nearly time for bed and I still haven’t been to the toilet – I must have faith, eat plenty of spinach, eat an apple and drink plenty of water to hopefully get things moving for tomorrow.

    Fingers crossed.

Ease Out Day 3 – First time master cleanse – Detox and the Saltwater Flush.
So again, nothing really to write here. When I head home, I’ll do the herbal tea. It’s my last one so I may buy another box if the whole foods hasn’t been totally ransacked due to the storm. Here is the recipe for the carrot and orange soup from the Silver Palate cookbook:

    4 Tablespoons sweet butter
2 Cups finely chopped yellow onions
    12 Large carrots, 1.5 – 2lbs, peeled and chopped
    4 Cups of chicken stock
    1 cup of Orange juice
salt and ground pepper to taste
grated fresh orange zest to taste.

Just a note on the lemon soup from yesterday. I had a mug when I got home and it tasted soooooo much better after sitting for a few hours.

Ease Out Day 2 – First time master cleanse – Detox and the Saltwater Flush. The herbal tea is doing the trick. My body appreciates the routine.

I’m a little burnt out on writing right now. It’s been a long day and to be honest I don’t have 100 words in me about detox and the saltwater flush. To help me get better I’m going to make this soup tomorrow. Here is the recipe for the Greek egg lemon soup. It’s from the Silver Pallet cookbook – pages 55-56.

    GREEK LEMON SOUP
A pot of avgolemono can be ready in about 30 minutes, and for only pennies.
    6 cups canned chicken broth
1/2 cup long-grain rice (not converted or instant)
    3 egg yolks
    1/4 cup lemon juice
salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
    sliced fresh lemon (garnish)
    chopped fresh parsley (garnish)
