Group Cleanse Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for the Topic of Detox and The Salt Water Flush for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush

The Salt Water Flush (SWF) might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system. What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?

Day #2 – I have not done the salt water flush. I choose to do the tea instead, but only did it last night because I am on night shifts (although I can sleep for a few hours in the call room). I’m all messed up!

My movements have been mostly water today, very little form. I will have the tea tonight again, and try to drink it before I go to bed in the AM. Because I am at work for 12 hours (or more) I feel like I really don’t want the side effects that a laxative will bring.

Did I choose a wrong time to do this?

Have you done this before? The best time is when you have made the quality decision to commit to doing it as written. People get the maximum result this way. I must admit, a night shift is more challenging.

Nope, this is my first time. I am committed!

Maybe you can schedule a colonic instead of a swf on the days you work? My experience with the SWF was that I waited 45 minutes to go, and then went quite often for the next hour. After that it was all good. I still had to use the loo throughout the day but there were no close calls or anything.
Can you do that before you go to sleep ??? DO you work every day ?

Yes, I could do it before I go to sleep. Or when I get up in the afternoon. I don’t usually work everyday, but this week I am working 3 nights in a row, with one off and then another night.

I think I will try the swf tomorrow.

I have had mid-back pain today.

      sorry Cathy:(
Back pain can be emotionally tied to incidences from the past- so maybe thats why it is coming up on the detox… you are detoxing those old emotions and stuff

I am a rule person, so if the cleanse calls for a SWF, I do it. In the beginning days, I gagged it down. Warming it up and drinking with a straw helps immensely.

I steeped my tea 2 minutes less than the first night last night because the effects were strong. At 4am this morning I still needed to take care of business. It woke me out of a very sound sleep. I will steep my tea less tonight, and also, add more water. I am using Yogi brand “Get Regular”.

I also like following “the rules” or at least having directions to complete something to success!

Cathy- thanks for the straw tip! I drank it all in under 5 mins but was regretting not doing the warm water…. I find that easier to drink.

I had my first movement after 45 minutes…. I was hanging in as long as I could! I still think I will do a couple of colonics….. not 10… my local girl gives big discounts to cleansers who have to do a bunch in a week or 10 days!

But the SWF wasn’t as bad a I thought… I had time this morning as I don’t have my first client till 11am…. but it won’t be practical most mornings!

Mary, your colonic therapist will tell you (as did mine), that colonics do not reach the small intestine, whereas the SWF does help move out sludge from that area.

Okay, here we go, Day 1. I took my laxative tea last night. I did awake with mild abdominal cramping in the night, but not so much that I couldn’t go back to sleep. I did my SWF at 8am and the first urges to go came about 30 minutes later. I used two little tricks with the SWF. I warmed the water (warm, not hot), and I used a straw to drink it. I learned this years ago and it makes the water not taste so salty. I got the whole quart down within 5 minutes. On we go…

Instead of the SWF can we just go get a colonic?? that will do the same thing- right?

10 colonics will be about $1000. SWF will cost you about $3 or less.

Day 1: Drank the senna tea last night and just drank the SWF (didn’t realize it’s not necessary on Day 1…oh well). It certainly wasn’t great but I wasn’t gagging either. However I can see how it might become dreadful. I’ll do it as often as I can stand it! Very motivated to stick to the MC for at least 10 days and maybe longer.

    Day 1-
Just finished the SWF, I downed it in about a minute and a half. *shudder* gross, but doable!

Is anyone else on the MC right now? A buddy would be awesome.

      Hey Amber

I just started today! Maybe I’m the buddy you are looking for. It’s good to know someone else out there is cleansing too. ;-)
