Group Cleanse Support Topic: Psychological and Emotional Effects (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for The Psychological and Emotional Effects for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.
To learn more about the value of Group Cleansing, check out this report.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

What is going through your mind? We have thoughts that seem out of control when we are in our daily grind – many of these revolve around food. We may also feel stress that in turn causes us to eat, to have emotional reactions. Many people report feeling in more control while doing The Master Cleanse – alongside a sense of clarity. Do commercials about food drive you crazy? Are you more patient than ever?

If you are not participating, you can follow the post to get inspiration to try the cleanse or answer the most basic question: Is The Master Cleanse right for me?

Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

If you haven’t yet, go ahead and register for the Group Cleanse to get our “Guided Cleanse Experience” email sequence timed to correspond with your registration and the important days as the come up during our scheduled group cleanses.

    I am a newbie to the MC and am on my 2nd day. I have to say the 1st day was the hardest. The hunger pains were hard to manage but I drank a lot of water in between the lemon aide and got through it. Now the 2nd day I didn’t want to go through the hunger again so I went and purchased the supplement hoodia gordonii which is a appetite suppressant and it worked. Then a bunch of emotions started popping up the rest of the day and then I it occurred to me how I tend to deal/cope with the emotions like stress, sadness and anger. I always reached for food or alcohol. Now during this cleanse, I am facing emotions in the raw and its a bit scary. I am so happy I started the MC on a 3 day holiday weekend. That way I can be alone and work through things. I think tomorrow I will start up my meditation practice. Hope everyone is doing well on their MC journey.

    I tried the cleanse once before in college and I only survived six days. Of course I was doing it WRONG (tap water and store bought lemon juice) lol. This time I am following the recipe to a T with the minor exception of agave nectar in place of syrup. I am on day 2 of the lemonade portion and I feel wonderful. I’m a little nervous about the Detox Crisis but I’ll live through it! #StayMotivated

    Day 1 ~ Lemonade Diet ~ Newbie
    This is the whamo for me. Doing this cleanse for ten days will be a psychological and emotional challenge for me more than anything else. I can handle hunger. But I have a history of having ZERO will power. So completing this cleanse will be a testament to myself that I DO HAVE WILL POWER and I can control what I eat and when. I need to prove to myself that I am in control of my body, not the other way around. I am also a stress eater, and I eat out of boredom. I never over eat and have always been healthy; however, I don’t like that food is my “go to” when I am stressed or bored, because as I get older I can see how that is more and more damaging.

    Lemonade Day 1

    Alright folks here we go :)… I’m not up and running but I’m up and starting the MC.

    Today I’m going to focus on the here and now. Thinking of how far 10day’s away is can be discouraging. Id rather make it till lunch time, and then at lunch figure out how I’ll make it till bed time. Baby steps for this gal.

    It’s a cold rainy morning where I’m at so going to keep my self busy indoors and make some hot lemon water to keep me warm.

    Happy Cleansing!!

    Ease in Day 2

    I have been attempting many diets, detox, and cleanses that I can’t even count. The one tool that I have not used in the past is posting on a community board, and doing it with other people. So I really hope that this time I’m able to complete what I’m setting out to do….
    Today I’m going shopping so I have all that I need to do the MC for a few day’s. I’m already feeling the challenge of feeding my son as I do this MC. Cooking dinner for other people can be difficult and that one challenge that I have. You truly don’t realize how much you grab off you children’s plate until you make a conscious decision to stop doing it.

    Wish me luck!!! I’ll need a lot of it.

      Hi Darcie! Wishing you all the luck! You have the same problem I have with grazing off of our children’s plates… I found myself this morning (day 1) having to consciously NOT nibble their cinnamon coffee cake! WE CAN DO IT!

    Ease In ~ Day 1

    Has been a great day. I love raw foods so this was a delicious day.
    I am looking forward to juices tomorrow. My kids will like some fresh juice also. I am positive and have been recording my weight and measurements also. just to see how things end up.

    Day One Lemonade diet. I did not start with ease-in. This is my eighth time over the course of five years. I feel great today. I have learned days 2 through 4 are the most challenging as my body gets rid of toxins and experiences caffeine withdrawal. I feel great on day 5 and less tempted to eat. I am aiming for 10 successful days. Cheers.

      Hi Kim C.
      Today is the start of my fourth day. I am a ‘newbie’ cleanser and did not do the Ease In. I am doing great and so far lost about 5 lbs.
      I can do without the food, but the only thing I cannot give up is my morning cup of coffee. Of course, this has caffeine, and I noticed your post mentioned ‘caffeine withdrawal’. I do not think my one and only cup of coffee has been detrimental to my cleansing at this point.

    This my fourth day of the Master Cleanse. It is 6:32pm. This has been my most difficult day so far. I mean it is not impossible just a little challenging. I go swimming every morning and then I spend 5 min. or so in the steam room. Over all I feel quite good. I am doing the laxatives at night and in the morning but not as much as I expected is coming out. Maybe I should make the laxative stronger. I do not feel weak at all, which is something I was worried about.
    I am so grateful for this Master Cleanse. Beside look better in my skin and eyes so far I have lost 3 1/2 lbs. Actually I though I would have lost more than that but I guess I will have to see what happens after the ease out which I start next Wednesday.

    EASE OUT – DAY 4 – NEWBIE ->

    Feeling very upset today… mostly I am exhausted… I worked 10.30am to midnight NON STOP and I still have energy to spare… so that’s thanks to MC for the elevated energy levels… I worked 13.5hrs and my commute is 1hr one way, so I was gone 15.5hrs from home… my kids did not do the dishes or take out the trash… it really upset me cuz I’m working my tail end off to support the family and they tinker around all day doing nothing of any grit… I also upset b/c a few people have been demoted in our company, but some serious rule breakers are still allowed to be RENEGADE and the sins of those demoted not nearly as bad as the sins of the RENEGADES… 11.30pm it started snowing so I was driving with high winds, arctic cold, and snow plows treating the pavement… then I come home to park, and the sheriff deputy i live next door too did not park properly in his stall again… so I had to park improperly again… i’m just feeling so irritable and very very very glad I have the next two days off work

    EASE OUT – DAY 3 – NEWBIE ->

    just got home from work after being gone 8am to 11pm… worked 13 hr shift + 2hr total commute is 15hrs away from home… please do not hate on me, but I’m going to take a sleeping pill so I sleep very deeply tonight… I don’t understand what is going on with me detox wise and I don’t want to deal with the emotions of it, or the head thoughts of it… so its a cop-out, I realize… I’m just going to let my body work all this out in my sleep… I don’t go to work until 11am tomorrow… so I can sleep in til 8 or 9am…. awareness of my body is a new found benefit of Master Cleanse … but I am feeling so physically funky and I really don’t want to deal with it.. going to take Umcka tablet and Vitamin C, too, before I go to sleep…WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ME???… society always seems to MASK what’s really going on by taking PILLS PILLS PILLS… I rarely ever take pills… but tonight I’m taking pills so I can sleep and fight this funky detox, or possibly head cold, feeling
