Group Cleanse Support Topic: Psychological and Emotional Effects (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for The Psychological and Emotional Effects for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.
To learn more about the value of Group Cleansing, check out this report.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

What is going through your mind? We have thoughts that seem out of control when we are in our daily grind – many of these revolve around food. We may also feel stress that in turn causes us to eat, to have emotional reactions. Many people report feeling in more control while doing The Master Cleanse – alongside a sense of clarity. Do commercials about food drive you crazy? Are you more patient than ever?

If you are not participating, you can follow the post to get inspiration to try the cleanse or answer the most basic question: Is The Master Cleanse right for me?

Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

If you haven’t yet, go ahead and register for the Group Cleanse to get our “Guided Cleanse Experience” email sequence timed to correspond with your registration and the important days as the come up during our scheduled group cleanses.

The Master Cleanse Day 7: Today I got the 7 day email as being a day that some people consider stopping, that never once crossed my mind. I still hold the feeling of determination and even consider going longer, which I know is doable. The cravings for food seemed to be a little higher than usual for me. I’ve been thinking of everything and anything to eat today all while I wasn’t really hungry. My mind is not focused on healthy food either, those foods are not in my thoughts at all! I’m trying to figure out how to replace all the bad food cravings with all the good food cravings, but nothing has come to mind yet. I have been feeling pretty calm lately, but today I felt a bit on edge. I’m not sure if it’s because I would have loved to of had food or if I was tired from staying up too late last night. My husband and I did go grocery shopping and oddly enough, I wasn’t thinking about food then, I keep wanting a huge sub!

The Master Cleanse Day 6: Tonight we went out to dinner with our best friends, the first time I’ve gone out on the cleanse. I stayed focused and was too busy in conversation to give the food I was missing out on any thought. I did look through the menu to see everything they had and I planned out all that id like to have next time. I didn’t pick any one thing, I had a lot of things! I felt really good sticking to my guy and not having any cheats. I made sure I filled up on plenary of lemonade before going so it really wasn’t all that bad! I felt very proud of myself once again for such control!

Master Cleanse Day 2 – Today my mood is blah. I just want to curl up under the covers and veg.

Last night I went to bed feeling pretty good – not too hungry. As long as I stay out of the kitchen otherwise every package I see I just want to open up and pop something solid into my mouth but if I didn’t see it or think about it I was okay. Then as I slept I dreamed I was at some sort of work function and I ate a bunch of chocolate brownies and then these guys brought a bunch of other foods as if a company was treating us to dinner and I thought to myself I can’t eat I’m on a fast but I had just eaten the brownies but I still wanted to get back on the fast. It was weird dreaming about a feast on night one of my fast. I wonder what tonight will bring.

The Master Cleanse Day 5: When you have will power, you have WILL POWER!!! Everyday I congratulate myself on this number one accomplishment! If there is any test out there to test your will power, well the master cleanse is it! It sounds like a crazy thing to do from most peoples peoples perspective, but really it’s the most control one could ever be in when it comes to their health, their mind and their body. If you’re reading this and your making it everyday, I congratulate you too and I’m just as proud of you as I am of myself! Food is something that every person in this world can relate too along with cravings, but not every person in this world will ever come close to giving their body the cleanse and attention it needs like we are! We cleansers are a small percentage of the worlds food warriors. This is a time to reflect and understand yourself and what it is your body really needs…compared to what your auto pilot brain thinks you need. We are in full conscious control right now, take advantage of it in all areas of your life! That’s how I feel about that!

      Hi Michelle.

I had to respond to you post for the kindness that you showed in not only being proud of yourself but in saying we should be proud of ourselves to.
I am on day five and it is a tough one for me. I see that at times I am a emotional eater and have to face these issues without fork in hand. I also am a wonderful cook and love to try different foods.
My goal is to eat healthier. I just had to stop by to thank you for your kind words. I do not know if you completed the cleanse “this time” but you have helped me with this day :-)

The Master Cleanse Day 4: I feel great and energized today, which really isn’t any different than how I when I’m not on the cleanse, only it’s not caffeine and sugar induced. I found myself very comfortable today with everything and how things have been going. I had a little more craving for food today than I did yesterday. I also imagined myself eating all kinds of things. I am in the process of making change and look forward to a much healthier lifestyle, so I’m not sure why I imagine myself eating the things I don’t plan on not eating after easing out. I’m trying to replace my thoughts of eating a big huge sub to enjoying a nice big salad, but my mind won’t replace it and I wish it would! Although if given a salad, I’d be thankful and appreciate for it. I feel it’s important to continue on with eating healthy for as long as 66 days, when you really start changing any habit you wish to give up. My concentration and focus seems to of improved since starting the cleanse, I’m really loving that.

Day 3: Today might be the hardest day, I work today and unfortunately I am a dietitians aide and I work very closely with food. Has anyone gone through this problem? Working around food while on this diet. If anyone had any advice please share. Other than that problem I’m not as cold and shakey as I was yesterday, it seems to be looking up. I can’t get food out of my head though, commercials, pintrest, facebook, etc. All have food. I am going to distance myself from all of these sites today. I have lost 7 pounds and it’s great! I need to start thinking positive!

The Master a Cleanse Day 3: Today I woke up really early feeling super energized and great! I felt so much better than I have in the past two days, which was a nice change up. On my way to work I shed a few tears at an uplifting song I love and I found that to be very surprising and unusual for me, as I’ve heard it many times before. I think I just loved how I was feeling and emotion was released. My cravings were less today but my sense of smell was heightened. I could smell food from a distance and all I could do was imagining myself eating it. I realized how strong my willpower is while doing this cleanse and would love to understand why I do not have the same control with cravings and temptations as I do now. I meet my husband for lunch every day and I find it does not bother me that he’s eating and I’m not. However, the past three days I’ve asked him if can smell his food, as I find this gives me great pleasure and he doesn’t mind. There’s a lot to understand about yourself in this process, outside of food alone, and I look forward to everyday as it reveals another aspect on oneself.

Master Cleanse Day 3 – Yesterday was so hard I had to block ALL thoughts out of my mind including writing posts here… I made it though and lost 7 lbs in the first 2 days, which is the best loss I ever achieved, it shows how much I overindulged over the past year putting on 23 lbs, leaving a lot to eliminate. It feels really good and motivating. Stay strong everyone, it is so worth it!
