Group Cleanse Support Topic: Psychological and Emotional Effects (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for The Psychological and Emotional Effects for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.
To learn more about the value of Group Cleansing, check out this report.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

What is going through your mind? We have thoughts that seem out of control when we are in our daily grind – many of these revolve around food. We may also feel stress that in turn causes us to eat, to have emotional reactions. Many people report feeling in more control while doing The Master Cleanse – alongside a sense of clarity. Do commercials about food drive you crazy? Are you more patient than ever?

If you are not participating, you can follow the post to get inspiration to try the cleanse or answer the most basic question: Is The Master Cleanse right for me?

Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

If you haven’t yet, go ahead and register for the Group Cleanse to get our “Guided Cleanse Experience” email sequence timed to correspond with your registration and the important days as the come up during our scheduled group cleanses.

Today is day one for me and my first time trying a cleanse of any sort. I need to shed at least 15lbs. I decided to stick post-it notes all over my house with motivational sayings such as; “stay strong”…”you WILL do!” And so on and so fourth. I encourage others to do the same. I usually use post-its with sayings when times are tough to give me more of a “kick” and get me going. Good luck to all! You WILL do it!

Having the same problem at night..i used to stay up late anyways but now i feel i just can’t go to sleep…on day 5 and i kno i have the will power not to crave the foods, but i Soooo want the tastes and textures…my gmom made pork cops and collard greens and stuffing—smelled delicious…i immediately drank 4 glasses of lemonade…the feeling subsided, but i still want to taste the meal…really really tempted and sadly have no one to turn to…I’ll either get, “you can do it, be strong (while enjoying the meal)” or “don’t worry about it, just eat. you can detox any time” i need someone who can feel my pain and understand my struggle…i actually almost cried…laughing because its funny but at the same time its a serious matter…goes to show how addictive these foods are..can’t wait to taste solids again…OAN: bowl movements haven’t been too unpleasant…just really watery.only solid matter the first day on cleanse…normal?? And i think my bum has become a bit irritated due to the salt and cayenne pepper…few break outs on my face but i guess that’s just the toxins…still smell that food…Lord give me strength!!

Today is only day two for me but I still feel pretty good. I am getting intense cravings at night, but I think that’s because I used to do a lot of nighttime snacking and that is something I’m trying to get rid of all together. I find that looking at food blogs and planning delicious and healthy meals for myself in the future is helping, but for some people looking at pictures of food might be too tempting for some. For me I feel it fulfills some sort of mental/visual food craving I have, and also gets me thinking about what I want to eat in the future. Like those juicy burgers on the internet look good, but man some yummy kale and beet salad sounds absolutely amazing AND good for me. I can’t wait to try all the new recipes I found! I will post more tomorrow, but so far I’m not super cranky or feeling starved. Just some munchies cravings here and there…..

I just wish I has someone I was doing it with that I can talk to. I’m encourage by everyone’s posts. It keeps me going.

Ease Out Day 1: I was looking forward to moving on from the ten day lemonade cleanse only to feel today that I miss it already. I would have preferred doing what I have been doing instead of drinking the orange juice today. As I write this I feel cranky. I’m thinking I didn’t have enough of the juice or something to feel this kind of emotional crash. I feel hungry and annoyed that I feel I’m days away from eating what I want or something solid for that matter. I’m not looking forward to tomorrow, although I know tomorrow is a new day and I will wake up feeling differently. I also feel unprepared for tomorrows blended foods and broth, and I feel this is also adding to my mood, knowing theres nothing planned to eat. My mind is on something substantial right now, something I’m days away from having. I even feel grumpy enough that I am annoyed that I’m blogging! Going to bed right away when I’m done, put today and my mood in the past!

I am on day 3, just now moving around, my energy the first day was normal, but the last 2 days have been significantly lower. Anyone else cranky? I had a debilitating headache last night and because of the chills I placed a hot compress on my forehead and drifted off. Crazy dreams too! I’m determined to reboot my system, get off this last 15 lbs of baby weight and start really focusing on clean eating. Good luck everyone, I’m rooting for you!

The Master Cleanse Day 10: Feeling fantastic today! Also feeling accomplished and proud of myself making it to day ten. I started this cleanse off my waking up on a Monday around 5:30am and deciding today was the day to start, never having read the book. I started unprepared but managed to have all my ingredients by lunch. I later found out that this kind of beginning is almost a set up for failure when trying to do the cleanse, I am one who loves to defy the odds and I say I won! Oddly enough I had less cravings today than I have had in all the days before. If someone had food, I’d still eyeball it, and don’t get me wrong, I still cannot wait to eat. I feel it’s time to go into the ease out phase but I will miss the regiment of such an easy and strict way to go about my day, something I need to be more focused on with regular food. l feel more aware about what my body needs now than I have ever felt before.

    MC – Day 6

Day 3 & 4 were really low energy days for me. 5 and 6 I had to work so I had to bring my caloric intake up and drink more. I haven’t been feeling too hungry so I haven’t even been finishing my concentrate. So the past two day I’ve been making myself drink it all whether I crave it or not. Mood has been pretty even keel but Sunday I spent most of the day in bed. It was a total rest day for me.

For those of you who made it to day 9 today congrats. One more day to go. I’m excited for you all. I have 4 more days. Any special dietary plans once you ease out?

The Master Cleanse Day 9: Today is by far the most hungry I have been yet! I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting closer to the end or what, but I am definitely hungry! My energy level has been great, although I did feel a little light headed in the shower this morning, which passed. I met my husband for lunch and I so badly wanted just the smallest bite of his food, so tiny, but I didn’t. I imagined the whole process though. I spent some time looking up restaurants and what they had on their menus and I mentally planned for some future meals. I was happy to find myself looking at all my healthy options, I got great comfort in this. As much as I have been craving, I am mentally preparing for healthy! Sundays meals are already planned out! I cannot wait!!!

The Master Cleanse Day 8: Today I’m finding my cravings are staring to take over, it’s ridiculous! I know I have no interest or means to act on it but it’s very present and very noticeable to me. I feel I have a list of things I want to eat as soon as I am able to eat, and the choices are not ones I plan on making. To counteract that I started looking up recipes to make in the blender when I am able to do that in a few days. I’m excited about avocado soup at the moment. I haven’t looked that far ahead to see what I can have, but I know it’s more than lemon water with syrup! I feel energized today and looking forward to completing this process! I want to keep going on with the cleanse just as bad as I would like to eat, so at the moment, I’m still not sure what I plan on doing.
