Group Cleanse Support Topic: Social Support from Family and Friends

This page is a Support Topic Page for The Social Support from Family and FriendsĀ for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

We have probably all experienced the “What’s wrong with you?” look when telling friends or family that we are trying the Master Cleanse. And equally, most of us have at least one person in our life who supports us. The Lemonade Diet is difficult, and (dis)approval by our peers can make all the difference.

In fact, that is why I started this Master Cleanse Group Experience diary; we can support each other.

Let us know about the people and experiences you have each and every day. Who made fun of you? Who showed compassion? Who understood the cleansing, and who thought you were nuts?

If you are not participating, you can follow the post to get inspiration to try the cleanse or answer the most basic question: Is The Master Cleanse right for me?

Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

If you haven’t yet, go ahead and register for the Group Cleanse to get our “Guided Cleanse Experience” email sequence timed to correspond with your registration and the important days as the come up during our scheduled group cleanses.

Great news Susan! I feel like I am on my last legs. I totally empathise with Erica. I have done 5 days (twice) before, but 10 days feels like 4 times as long! Lets check in tomorrow again, I hope to not have any “confessions”. :-)

        Hi Ericka,
Great job making it 9 days. That was one of the toughest days for me and I can totally relate to hitting the wall and wanting out. I have transitiion on day 9 quite a few times. You still are getting most of the benefits, be proud! It’s what you do from this day forward that counts..
        healthy eating, be well xo

LOL – yup. A few people who I told about this thought it was pretty drastic. This week, I found out that if you have to be in a “food situation” during the cleanse (or any other fast), pick one or two people or three? Ahead of time. (Lets call them accomplice). Let them in on what’s going on. They may understand why you are avoiding food.

During the event, they can help keep you strong. Sometimes, it is just a look that they will give you. Sometimes, it is a word of support, when other people are persuading you to break the cleanse (accomplice). In the extreme, it may be a touch. Physically move your hand, or ask the waiter/waitress to take away your menu or your plate. Or just tell the server that you only want herbal tea.

      Is that sneaky?

Got a co-workers reunion (15 year anniversary) tomorrow night. And of course, someone has booked Milestones. No-one will really understand, and I don’t really have the time/energy to get into explaining. But I think I will go.

And I am resolved to lie to them and say that I have an upset tummy, so I will abstain from eating anything. I don’t feel too good about it – but it really seems simpler all round.

Examples might be “we have not seen each other in 15 years – how can you not eat?” – the rude answer would be “so now I am seeing you.. after 15 years – is that not enough?” – really, I do love them. Food is just so emotional for everyone!

When I am with friends that are a bit more spiritual, I tell them that I am on a fast, and they usually respect that. “Respect” means that they don’t make fun – or sneakily try to get you to eat – or apply guilt.

I’m an very quiet about being on this cleanse. I am not interested in anyones opinion about it, I do it for my own reasons and feel that my choosing to be on the master cleanset isn’t anyones business…People are always negative about it. I feel fantastic and empowered while I watch them fill their bodies with alcohol and bad food…
