Detox and The Salt Water Flush
The SWF might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system.
What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?
Post your experiences on The Salt Water Flush problems, tips, and tricks for success here; and on other topics below.
This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post.
Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.
Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

Lemonade Diet Day 9
No Salt Water Flush today for me. I will do it tomorrow though for my last day. My movement is getting pretty clear. Not much there any more. The laxatives work really well, I was very happy with them. No cramps. No random movements. I could basically set my clock to a movement, even without the SWF for a movement to occur just a short time after rising. Yay for pure Senna gel caps.

Day 10
Exactly what’s happening with me as well. My bowel movements are clear now and i have like a couple of movements before even doing the SWF. Thanks to the senna leaf indeed!

~* DAY 9 *~
Got my SWF in first thing this morning. Took about an hour to kick in, but that’s normal. I do find myself wondering why it only takes 30 minutes some days and an hour or more on other days. Funny…
Eliminated a bit more gunk, but nothing like yesterday’s results. Judging by my detox symptoms, it would probably be best for me to stick with the cleanse for another 4 days at least, but the sad truth is that I’m just not mentally in tune with the process this time around and that’s what makes the difference :(
The best I can do now is to prepare for a sensible ease out period and take things slowly, instead of rush back into the habit of certain solid foods that are hard on my body.

i have been doing the laxative tea at night and in the morning… i want to attempt the SWF but i am a little scared to be honest. I don’t think i could get it down or even keep it down, I can barely gargle with salt water…
any suggestions? the teas have been working ok, stuff is coming out but not a ton like people talk about with the SWF… does it still work if I did half the amount of water? Or I have even been thinking what if i drank 1/2 a liter of water and then a concentrated amount of salt water and then another 1/2 liter of water?

Neda, people have successfully experimented with doing the SWF half and half like you described, so you could try it that way and see if it works.
I know it can seem scary, especially if you have never done it before, but you may just find that it’s not as bad as you feared. The results are really astonishing and well worth the unpleasant taste and fullness you’ll feel from the salt water solution itself.
Try the half-half mixture if you like, and keep a lemon on standby to lick between gulps. The quicker you get it over with the better. Remember to breathe between goes and keep a positive attitude. You can do it! Let us know how it goes :)

Day 8
I really dont understand why my tongue has been really coated and very bitter since yesterday. I’m just concern now that since i only have two more days before i ease out, my tongue might not turn pink.

Bridge and Stella: the tongue is a pretty good indicator of your body’s progress on the cleanse. Detox, as far as I’ve been able to learn from reading and from my own experiences, happens in 7-day cycles. But everyone is different and some take longer than others. You may not finish a detox cycle until Day 9 or 10, or even beyond.
The obvious answer to “how I know I’m done detoxing” would be that your detox symptoms have cleared. Keep an eye on the changes in your tongue and skin, as those are major organs for detoxing. Once they’ve cleared and are looking fresh and healthy again, you’ve very likely completed a detox cycle.
One thing I’d advise you not to do (like I unwisely did the first time I cleansed) would be to break your cleanse in the middle of a detox cycle. That will really mess you up :(
Good luck to you both!

Thanks anna.
Im just a little concern that i might not be able to finish the detox cycle before i ease out and i dont intend to go beyond day 10.
Fingers crossed!

Thanks! I’m pretty sure that I “finished” detoxing a while ago. My tongue hasn’t really been white in a while and my skin is nice and clear. I only have one day left, though, so I’m sticking it out!!

Is there a way to tell I’d you’re “done” with the Cleanse? My boyfriend wants to extend his Cleanse a little longer, but only because he wants to lose weight not because he wants to detox more.

~* DAY 8 *~
Another early day, so didn’t get the SWF in this morning, but knew I’d be home in time to do it in the afternoon before my bf got home.
This afternoon’s SWF tasted almost too mild, like I hadn’t put enough salt in it—which I knew I had. But things started gurgling and I knew my doubts were unfounded :) 40 minutes passed and WOW! I take back what I said about not understanding why this part of the cleanse is considered a “landmark” period. So much GUNK came out of me, I couldn’t believe it. And after days of liquid eliminations that was really a change.

Lemonade Diet Day 7
Today was the second day in a row I didn’t do the SWF. I just had the laxative the night before. That really is working well. No cramps. Just one movement in the day. I will definitely do the Salt Water Flush tomorrow though for a really good cleaning.

Is it important to use organic lemons or are normal lemons fine?
gabriele
17. Jan, 2010
Yes! Why would you put non organic items in your body when your detoxing? ALL the ingredients need to be organic :)
Bridge
18. Jan, 2010
I tried saving some money by using the non organic and it was disgusting!! Go for the organic!

Lemonade diet 7.
Still doing the SWF every morning. I normally have like a minimum of about 7 BMs everyday.
I woke up very early today due to serious cramps. I cant really say i like the taste of the laxative, but i take it every night before bed.
As for the colour, its either yellowish or black.

if you have a minimum of 7 bm’s a day you should see a doctor!
stella
20. Jan, 2010
b, i dont need to see a doctor, thank you. I think i would know if i need to see one.
We are all on this diet to get rid of toxins etc

Glad to hear you found the right SWF mixture for you, Tracey :)
~* DAY 7 *~
Had an early appointment this a.m. so didn’t get to do my SWF (nooo!!!) :(
Have another early appointment tomorrow, so I’ve set my alarm for 5 so I won’t have to miss another day.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the fact that herbal laxative teas are virtually *impossible* to find over here in Europe (believe me, I’ve looked!) and the trusty SWF has been my only means of elimination.
Today is said to be a “milestone” day, though I haven’t noticed any major differences other than my skin is finally starting to clear up and everyone is commenting on how thin I look.
Janine
17. Jan, 2010
hey anna, I’m in Europe too and couldn’t find any herbal laxatives teas but chamomile tea is known as a mild laxative and can be found in nearly any supermarket so I’ve been drinking that at night in addition to the SWF in the morning.
This might be a good alternative if you are interested.
stella
18. Jan, 2010
You are right, its difficult to get senna leaf tea in Europe. I’ve not tried chamomile tea , but there are other laxatives in the UK that contains about 40% senna leaf.

Senna is a natural herbal laxative, see if you can find that.
