The Lemonade Diet is often used synonymously with The Master Cleanse, but I break it down in order to describe the portion of The Master Cleanse when you consume the nutrients and energy from the Fresh Lemon Juice, Rich Maple Syrup, and Organic Cayenne Pepper.</p>

<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Lemonade diet</span> aka&#8221; The master Cleanse is  one of the most simple, effective, and inexpensive cleansing and healing programs available. It is a liquid <a href="http://www.ultra-running-insights.com/mono-diet.html">monodiet</a> (that is, one mixture only) designed to work with an complement your body&#8217;s own cleansing and detoxifying processes, and at the same time to nourish your body with the things it needs to function. It is <strong><em>not</em></strong> a true fast (one in which there is no nutrition), nor it is a means to starve the body in order to loose weight dangerously fast. <p><strong>The Lemonade Diet begins with preparing the Lemonade</strong>. During the diet, you will only consume the Lemonade that you make each day.  In order to ensure that it is fresh and will retain as much of the nutrients and energy as possible, you should prepare the Lemonade just moments before drinking it.</p>
<h1>Lemonade Diet Recipe &#8211; The Ingredients</h1>
<p>To make the Lemonade you will need the following ingredients:</p>

<li>2 Tablespoons of <strong>Fresh Lemon Juice</strong> from one half of a Lemon</li>

<h4><strong>Directions on making the Lemonade Diet Recipe</strong></h4>
<p>Start by rolling a Lemon on the cutting board to get it nice and juicy. Cut the lemon along its belly and grind it on the juicer. Do this until you have juiced half your lemons, or until you have no more room in your juicer.</p>
<ol>
<li>Measure 2 Tablespoons of Fresh Lemon Juice into your large cup.</li>
<li>Now measure and at 2 Tablespoons of Rich Maple Syrup to the cup.</li>
<li>Measure and add 1/10 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper to the cup (or more to taste).</li>
<li>Mix a and drink immediately.</li>
</ol>

<p>While on the Lemonade Diet, you can and should drink plenty of Pure Water. I drink 1 cup as a chaser after each cup of Lemonade. You can drink more throughout the day. Try to avoid drinking more than double the amount of Lemonade each day.</p>
<p>Drinking enough water helps to wash out the toxins being released out of our body during the cleanse. It also helps to prevent possible headaches as well as feeling of hunger or cravings that surface during the detox.</p>

I personally believe that it is a kind choice to allow our bodies to adjust to this cleansing process and to slowly start letting our digestive system rest before we introduce the Master Cleanse Lemonade that eventually allows for our digestive system to rest completely.</p>

<p>I also find (as I manage <a href="http://www.facebook.com/TheMasterCleanse">our Master Cleanse Facebook page</a> with about 9000 members), that<strong> people who choose to ease-in are not as challenged to stick to the Lemonade diet</strong> and that is a great benefit on it&#8217;s own. Easing &#8211; in can prepare you for the cleanse:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Physically</strong></li>
<li><strong>Mentally </strong></li>
<li><strong>Emotionally</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>This is especially important for the people that are about to do the Master Cleanse for the very first time.</p>
<h3>The Ease-in portion of the Master Cleanse is important to me for several reasons.</h3>
<ol>
<li><strong>It allows me to prepare my digesting system for the upcoming big changes in my diet</strong>. Eventually as I start the actual Lemonade diet, my digestive system will be allowed to rest completely, so it makes sense to start introducing foods very easy to digest ( soups, juices, smoothies&#8230;) before I start only drinking liquids &#8211; the lemonade and editional pure water.</li>
<li><strong>It helps me develop the habit of a more natural and healthier diet</strong>. I don&#8217;t want to adopt a rule-filled lifestyle such as vegan or vegetarian, but I do want to limit processed foods, dairy products and red meats. I know that <a href="http://themastercleanse.org/get/books/juicingbible" class="pretty-link-keyword">juicing</a> is a great way to get vital veggies.</li>
<li>Therefore, if I choose to eat this way strictly before I begin my cleanse, <strong>I am a little more likely to continue the habit in my Post &#8211; Cleanse Lifestyle.</strong></li>

<p>The Ease-in can be eliminated, as it is not suggested in the original text. It can also be reduced. This is just my version, take it or leave it.</p>

Organic is good, but a lack of organic foods should not keep you from starting; if you can’t find organic, get regular produce. <p>Sometimes I find it hard to get the calories I need through the day and so I add some Maple Syrup to increase my caloric intake. Again, this is just the reverse process of the Ease-out or &#8220;Breaking the Master Cleanse.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>IMPORTANT NOTE</strong>: The most important factor to keep in mind during the Ease-in stage is to drink a lot of pure water. Especially when you are fruit and veggie juicing. If you do not make broth, and opt for juices instead, it is important you understand that the juice will have a great deal of fiber, and you need to make sure you have enough water in your system to keep you from becoming constipated.</p>

Since you&#8217;re not eating any solid food, you&#8217;ll need to create a bowel movement, and the Saltwater Flush will do that. You can, and should also do a laxative at night. The <em>Salt Water Flush</em> is optional but I find it very helpful. Many people find it difficult, but if you watch the video below, you&#8217;ll learn some of the tips and technique.</p>
<h3>2 Important Tips to make sure you do the Salt Water Flush right</h3>
<ol>
<li>Make sure you don’t used iodized table salt. <strong>NON-iodized sea salt</strong> is essential.</li>
<li>The Salt Water Flush <strong>MUST</strong> be done on an empty stomach</li>
</ol>
<p>The Salt Water Flush is very important. I suggest to do the SWF in the morning as it is suppose to be done on an empty stomach. The process is a commitment in itself. Once you take the solution, you will have to be on guard, a bowel movement WILL be shortly coming. I don&#8217;t mean in 5 or even 15 minutes, but generally in 30-60 minutes between taking it and the first movement. The last movements will begin to wind down an hour or so after they begin. This is a, ahem&#8230; crappy process, and there is really no way to sugar-coat it. The next few paragraphs will describe in detail what you can expect.</p>

<h3>How to prepare the Salt Water Flush mixture:</h3>

<p>Using 1 liter BPA Free <a href="http://themastercleanse.org/get/peterswaterbottle" class="pretty-link-keyword">Water Bottle</a> and your teaspoon measure, mix a solution consisted of :</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://themastercleanse.org/celtic-sea-salt-vitamin-mineral-blend/">Sea Salt</a> - 2 teaspoons or 1 tablespoon</li>
<li>And Pure Water – 1 quart of warm water</li>
</ul>
<p>Mix a solution of sea salt and room temperature water.</p>
<p><strong>The original book says 2 teaspoons</strong>, but I have used 1 tablespoon almost every time and it works for me the same. The last time I did the cleanse, I tried it each way (once with 2 teaspoon and then again with 1 tablespoon), and each time I had success.</p>
<h2>What if it doesn&#8217;t work?</h2>
<p>NOTE: There have been many questions about this process. The fact is, however much some claim it hasn&#8217;t worked for them, it will work for absolutely everyone. The key is to adjust the amount of salt in order to create the right solution for your individual needs. Also make sure you don&#8217;t used iodized table salt. <a href="http://themastercleanse.org/celtic-sea-salt-vitamin-mineral-blend/">Un-iodized organic sea salt</a> is essential.</p>
<h3>Flush your system with the Salt Water Flush</h3>

I like to &#8220;pound it&#8221; &#8211; perhaps because I like to pretend I am still in college and the sea salt is actually a keg stand. I also move into the bathroom and stand in front of the mirror. Somehow, by watching myself, I can manage to drink the whole liter in one try, spilling very little. This too is a challenge in itself, especially once your stomach has become very small from taking no solids.</p>
<p>Chances are, you will feel full halfway through, so just keep going. Stopping only makes you taste the salt, and will activate your gag reflex. While it is not required to drink the solution in one go, you will find that the taste is such that you will want to get it down quickly. It is not awful, but it is not exactly pleasant, and therefore I choose to get it over with. I also enjoy the little challenge.</p>
<h3>Salt Water Flush Tips</h3>
<p>After you have consumed the solution, you can go about your day until nature calls. Some suggest lying on your right hand side to aid the solution on its journey through your digestive track, although I don&#8217;t find this especially helpful and so I don&#8217;t bother. <p>When you first feel the rumble in your belly and your bowels, don&#8217;t go running off to the bathroom. Give it a while. Let it brew! Yeah, I know that is weird to think about, but you should let it build up. You are going to have 3-7 movements, possibly more. Generally speaking, you will end up pushing out what you put in. The entire liter of sea salt water will be immediately expelled.</p>
<h2>Will the Salt Water Flush dehydrate me?</h2>
<p>NO. This is because the solution is indigestible.You may have heard that, if you are stranded at sea, drinking sea water will only dehydrate you more. This is why. It just comes right out of you because the mixture has the same gravity as your blood and is not absorbed.</p>
<p>Of course, along with the sea salt, you will be expelling waste. During the first 2 days you will be moving out remaining solid matter in the digestive tract from the days prior to this.If you began your diet immediately, this will be more true than if you Eased-in, and therefore have only juice in your system. Nevertheless, for each day you will expel solid matter. Gross, to be certain, but also empowering. You really begin to understand the value of this process when you recognize the elimination of waste that has been stored in your body for months, even decades.</p>

<p>Once you feel you can no longer hold out, go to the bathroom. A word of warning while you wait for this moment. DO NOT FART!!! You will most certainly not pass only air &#8211; if you know what I mean. This is also true throughout the rest of your day. Don&#8217;t be fooled or you will be leaving work to change your shorts. The first movement will be rather large and fairly powerful. You will want to flush almost immediately. In order to understand the whole messy details, take a look&#8230; if you dare.</p>
<p>Stay close to a toilet and continue to move until the frequency eases. Once you can last 15 minutes without a serious movement, you are safe to go about your day. For this reason I choose to undergo this process in the evening, with nowhere else to go for the rest of the day. (Also, because I like to have a shower following, and truth be told, I am not exactly a morning person.) The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Salt Water Flush</span> isn&#8217;t exactly pleasant, but it&#8217;s critical to an effective detox.</p>
