Whether you prefer to juice your food (which removes the fiber) or to blend your food (which retains the fiber), you will have access to the food’s natural, unspoiled nutrients.

For now, I would like to collect your feedback as I review my notes on this topic. Please leave your comments below and check back later for this post to be updated, as well as for the series to be released.

Yesterday, I read a comment about the Ease-In that struck me as interesting at the time, and would later seem even more relevant.

I came up with the Ease-In because I wanted to stretch out the benefits of eating well (namely: less food and no bad foods) over two weeks for a ten day cleanse. And though I still feel the concept is sound, last night I was dreading both the Ease-In and the cleanse.

I’ll admit I have contemplated not sharing this faltering confidence, but since everyone shares their feelings so deeply, I thought I should, too. Perhaps it is the semi-constant stress I have been feeling lately, or just the standard anxiety of staring down the barrel of two weeks of self-control. I still have a lot of work to do on my outlook on certain things, particularly my health.

I would like to describe myself as healthy, and would prefer not to be thought of as a hypochondriac. I do look at my health as a proactive responsibility. When something is bothering me about my health, I want answers, and frankly I think I deserve them. As do you.

The health system in my country blows. It is so ass-backwards, and especially slow to recognize and implement obvious strategies to anyone who has ever had some kind of health concern. Doing battle with the lethargic and irrelevant status quo of modern medicine can be frustrating, to say the least.

I won’t go into the specific details of the nature of my concerns in this post, but I might in another. Nor will I steal too much more from the topic of juicing and soups of the second day of the Ease-In. Frankly, I only mention it as a quick venting session, and to give context to my day.

Preparing for a new approach to a daily diet regimen always gets me thinking about juicing.

A juice fast has been proposed by many as a compromise between a more difficult fast, such as the Master Cleanse, or a straight water fast.

Sometimes I wonder whether a full-time juice fast, or juice diet, would be a way to go. As with a live-food diet, you could meet your needs and still have a vast range of flavors to choose from. Meanwhile, nutrients would be mainlined into your blood stream without the need for heavy digestion.

Steve Pavilina has just completed what he called his “Juice Feast”. I like that term. It turns on its head any bad connotations of the word “fast”. Juicing is really quite enjoyable.

So here we are today, and I am so excited about different flavours of juice.

I am going to start with carrot, tomato and orange. This evening, I will try some veggies.

Of course, you can also make the soup, as directed in the book.

Housed in attractive stainless steel, this 900-watt juice extractor features a unique five-speed smart juicing system. Its powerful motor comes with a built-in electronic smart chip that increases power to the cutting disc under heavy loads. As a result, the filter extracts more juice and can make an 8-ounce glass of juice in just five seconds. Speeds range from 6500 rpm for softer fruits and leafy greens like cantaloupe or spinach, to 12500 rpm for maximum extraction from denser foods such as apples or beets. The unit’s 3-inch circular feed tube makes it easy to process whole fruits and vegetables, without pre-cutting, slicing, or peeling, plus the feed tube sits uniquely positioned directly over the center of the cutting disc for better balance and consistent results. The juice extractor also provides a stainless-steel micromesh filter and cutters, engineering-grade polymers, a backlit control panel, and dishwasher-safe parts for quick cleanup. Accessories include a 1-liter juice jug and froth separator, a detachable spout for juicing directly in to a glass, and a cleaning brush. The juice extractor measures 16-4/5 by 15-1/2 by 10-1/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

With a capacity of more than a quart (34 ounces), this electric juicer can prepare family-size portions with little operator effort. Large and small cones fit on the reamer to accommodate different-size fruits. The reamer automatically reverses itself to extract the maximum amount of juice, while a stirrer presses juice from the pulp in the strainer. Finally, there’s an adjustable control that regulates how much pulp goes into the juice, a feature margarita fanciers will welcome. For storage, the cord wraps in a slot around the base, and a cover protects against dust. Hand wash this juicer in warm soapy water.
