When singer-actor superstar Beyonce Knowles needed to prepare for her role in Dreamgirls in 2006, she reportedly used the Lemonade diet to shed some weight while filming the movie.

Dreamgirls was released in December 2006 and after Beyonce shared her secret to loosing weight fast for the role on the Oprah show, the Beyonce diet (aka the Lemonade Diet or Master Cleanse) became a sensation over night. People sometimes refer to the Master Cleanse or the Lemonade Diet as the Maple Syrup Diet (or the Cayenne Pepper Diet, the Beyonce Diet, etc…) They are the same thing. The 3 main ingredients often get switched around, but don’t be confused; they are all referring to The Master Cleanse.

Beyonce Diet – why she chose the Lemonade Diet to prepare for her role in Dreamgirls

To allow her character to grow and mature on the screen during the movie, Beyonce decided to undergo a physical transformation corresponding to the detailes of the life of Deena – the character she played in the Dreamgirls. “Normally they’d change your makeup or your clothes but I wanted to go the extra mile,” she said. “Back in the sixties, models like Twiggy were popular and I knew Deena would have been thin then, so even though I really love eating, it was necessary to lose weight really fast because we shot Deena at 16 and Deena at 36 two weeks apart.”

” My nutritionist suggested the only way to do that was the (lemonade Diet) fast,” Beyonce is reported saying.

How much weight did Beyonce lose while on the Master Cleanse?

Reportedly she lost 20 pounds in just 14 days. Watch this video as Beyonce talks about her weigh-lose on the Oprah show.

“To get herself prepared to play Deena, Beyoncé lost 20 pounds—without being asked! “I figured in the ’60s Twiggy was the hot model, and Diana [Ross] and Cher and all the legends were thinner than I am,” she explains. “So I decided I wanted to lose weight and make a physical transformation. And it was difficult because I love food. I love to eat. I did a fast—a master cleanser for 14 days. Everybody was eating Krispy Kremes around me. I was grouchy, but I did it and I lost the weight.” This is a quote from Beyonce’s interview with Oprah published on the Oprah.com

Beyonce Diet – Before and After the Cleanse

The Master Cleanse dictates an Ease – out diet when coming off the diet which sustains from vegetable juices and soups. Beyoncé added shakes.”I did protein shakes and liquid (vegetable) soups for basically the rest of the shoot, which was about three months. It was tough. Everyone was eating and I was dying.” she said.

Unfortunately, after the film was finished, Beyoncé binged: “At the wrap party the day after filming they had these cupcakes and I ate about 12. I actually ate so many I got sick. After that I had waffles, fried chicken, cheeseburgers, french-fries, everything I could find. That was the best time of my life. I’ve gained 12 pounds.”

So this is the low-down on the Master Cleanse becoming the Beyonce Diet. What do you think? Did this inspire you to give the Master Cleanse a try? I am sure that the significant exposure this cleanse /diet received during interviews Beyonce did while promoting the Dreamgirls made people all over the world at least research and learn about the benefits of Cleansing. Aside for the weight-lose, it is beneficial for us to do some “house-keeping” once in a while and the Master Cleanse is a fantastic choice. Check out the comments on our website and our Master Cleanse Facebook Page to hear all the responses from people all over the world on the Master Cleanse journey. We have some people going as long as 30 – 50 days and feeling AMAZING!

Master Cleanse – the new, hot celebrity diet.

Most people are now familiar with the idea and benefits of detox. There are many ways to detox out there for you to try. Master Cleanse is becoming a very popular option after celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Noami Campbell started to endorse this powerful and life-changing cleanse which makes it to be one of the hottest cleanses in Hollywood.

It’s a good idea to start with only a few days (5-7 days is a good start and then you can slowly build your self up). It can be a very challenging but also extremely beneficial experience. I find it to be very effective way to establish new, healthy eating habits which is one of the main benefits of any cleanse, in my opinion. For the Master Cleanse (aka Lemonade Diet) recipe go to our home page, where you can also learn about all the ingredients and how to do this cleanse the right way and safely.

Happy Cleansing everyone!

To ensure your results, we decided to write a short article to help you avoid the common mistakes many people make during the Cleanse.

Here are 5 tips on how to make the Master Cleanse Lemonade right:

Tip # 1 – How to store your lemons

Store your lemons on the counter to ripen, NOT in the fridge. Enzymes are dormant in the fridge. You want those enzymes. Take the 10 most ripe lemons out for your first day or two.

Tip # 2 – Use the best quality of water you can find/afford

The quality of water consumed during the Cleanse is extremely important. The quality of your water during the Master Cleanse is the key to great results. You probably know that your body uses water to flush and transport toxins to the organs of elimination ( The colon, bladder, lungs, skin and so on…) to discharge them. Latest scientific research shows that many health problems can be significantly improved, or completely eliminated, with just an adequate consumption of good water.

We recommend 3 ways to ensure your water is pure and appropriate for the Cleanse:

Check your local health-food store for Purified Bottled Water

Install good Water Filter for your tap water

You can use Water Ionizer

Make sure NOT to use distilled water. Stanley Burroughs – The Master Cleanse founder, did not recommend using distilled water. He called it was “cooked” - completely stripped of natural minerals found in water. It is also slightly acidic.

Tip # 3 - Make each glass of lemonade fresh.

After you juiced your lemons, add the rest of the lemonade ingredients into the glass, mix immediately and drink. I like to drink the glass quickly because it seems to hit my hunger spot quickly. I usually only drink when I need to, and when enough time has passed to allow for a nice spread over the day as I try to manage my daily quota.

Tip # 4 – What to do if the lemonade is too spicy

Drink your lemonade as soon as you can after you made it (5-10 minutes after it was made). If you allow the lemonade to sit with the Cayenne pepper in it for too long as it will steep (just like a tea). The lemonade will get too spicy and that may prevent you from drinking enough lemonade during the day.

Tip # 5 -The Lemonade Diet Concentrate – the most common mistake

Previously mentioned on this website was my preference to drink Pre-mix Lemonade. I now understand a critical flaw to this plan. The longer your Lemonade sits, the more enzymes die. If you need to Pre-mix your Lemonade, then you should only mix a concentrate of just 2 ingredients :

The Fresh Lemon Juice

And the Rich Maple Syrup.

The maple syrup acts as a preservative. This Lemonade Diet Concentrate will keep the enzymes alive long enough to be consumed during the day.Store The Lemonade Diet Concentrate in a cool, dark, glass container. Do not add the cayenne or water to the concentrate! The cayenne will “Steep” like tea, and make the concentrate very hot. The water will dilute the maple syrup and the enzymes in the Fresh Lemon Juice will die. Add the water each time you make a fresh glass of lemonade. Learn the details about Master Cleanse Enzymes and The Lemonade Diet Concentrate because it is crucial to your success, and is a leading cause of Master Cleanse Problems.

Happy Cleansing everyone and please leave us a comment if you are have any of your own tips that you can share with us. Thank you!

But nonetheless day four went down with no major hitches.

Day Seven

I wake up, somewhat sleep deprived as usual, but feeling like a daisy. The first few days of the cleanse I was taking short naps in the middle of the day to deal with the cold. I would wrap myself up in a blanket and lay down to keep warm, then inevitably doze off. But in the last few days I’ve been actually sleeping less AND cutting the naps out. And I feel great. Today is no difference. In the word’s of Radioactive Man (kind of), “Up and atom!”

Not a bad sleep!

Off to the kitchen to start my day off with a low point, the dreaded Salt Water Flush! My friend (and marketing maverick) Jean-Guy Francoeur once told me about this book he read called, Eat the Frog (insert Frenchman joke here). It’s about productivity and time management. If I remember correctly, the tenant of the book is that we ought to do our most difficult, dreaded, uninspiring tasks first thing in the morning. When we complete tasks that we dislike it immediately releases endorphins, and we get a mini chemical addiction to that. Our body basically falls in love with the idea of completing difficult tasks… I’m not sure if that’s working for me. Or if I even believe in it. But I must admit that drinking a liter of salt water does probably taste somewhat like swallowing a frog. Or at least they’re in the same league.

[adrotate banner="8"]

I mix the concoction almost exactly to Stanley Burroughs‘ original recipe… one liter of water, two teaspoons of salt. The only diff is I make the teaspoons just somewhat heaping. This time I hold out as long as I physically can. Seriously, I really push the limits here. It was almost a salt water fluch fiasco. For the first time ever the BM is a biggy. Really biggy. And dark as always. But after the first movement I don’t really have much else. Regardless, I am proud.

Hop in the shower, warm up. While I’m washing my hair I feel some weird bumps on my forehead. Once out of the shower I check them out in the mirror. EGADS!!! My entire forehead has broken out with some type of rash!!! WTF MATE, WTF!? Ok, chill out, no big D. I have been wearing my toque (American’s read: beanie) about 16 hrs each day. That could certainly cause some irritation. I’m not convinced that’s what it is. Actually, I’ve heard of this phenomenon before.

In our day to day lives we take in all sorts of allergens and toxins. Often we have a reaction to them as they pass through our system. But sometimes they don’t get all the way through the system. Sometimes bits and pieces of them get caught in the crevices of our snaking intestine. There they sit, dormant, for who knows how long. And once we ‘shake them up’ and get them moving again we can have another reaction. The body will try to dispel the toxin as quickly as possible, through which ever exit doors it can find. Sometimes this can mean hives, or a rash. Unfortunately this was on my face.

So I don’t entirely freak out. But I’m a little shaken. But the rash subsides as the day wears on, so I don’t put much stalk into it.

The rest of the day goes pretty smooth except that I’m starting to miss food. I’ve trained myself to use food as a bench mark through out the day. I get up and have breakfast. I work for a while then eat lunch. Once I’m done for the day I can have dinner. These are really significant milestone’s in my day. Without them I’m noticing that it’s a lot tougher for me to time and space my day well.

Food was the bookends to my day, but it sure isn't any more!

At the end of the night I go out for a walk with my girl. But after walking for a while it seems like we have nothing to do. Just keep walking I guess. Usually we would stop in somewhere for a snack, dinner, maybe a drink. But all of that stuff is off limits. Eventually we decide on a hitting a midnight movie (that’s the reason this post is coming soo late). In the last year I’ve become addicted to theatre popcorn. Not tonight! Instead I head to the candy counter and ask the guy if I can get a big cup of water. He starts to pour me a miniature cup (I believe they call it the ‘courtesy cup’, which is pretty ironic, because there is nothing courteous about giving a person 1/3rd the amount of water they really need). I tell him I’ve been fasting and really need one of the big cups. He tells me they are inventoried and he can’t do that. I offer to pay. He still refuses (what a meathead!). Then he tells me he’ll break the rules this one time and proceeds to give me the smallest of the regular sized cups. As you can tell, I’m still a little miffed about this.

So I actually missed my last lemonade of the day…oops. I had my final lemonade around 8pm, and didn’t get to bed until about 2am. This is probably good practice for me leading up to my trip on Saturday.

How do I feel?

Same old, same old. Still feeling good. No noticeable loss in energy (with the exception of the end of the night when I had probably only had 800 calories for the day). Today was definitely the most productive day, from a work standpoint, I’ve had in about a month.

Like I said above, I miss food. I’m a bit of a foody. I love to go out and eat. I love the atmosphere, I love the conversation, and I love the FOOD! So that’s a big part of my life that is missing right now. Also, I’m a little surprised by just how skinny I’ve become. Yowzers! You can see my ribs! That can’t be too good. But eight days from now I’m going to be starting Shaun T’s Insanity workouts, so I have no doubt it’ll go back on.

My outlook moving forward?

As crazy as this sounds, that little rash on my forehead was actually quite encouraging. I was starting to feel kind of like, ‘what am I doing this?’-y. The Master Cleanse is a huge challenge, and when you don’t see results it’s difficult to press on. I’m not doing this for the weight loss, in fact I’d rather not lose weight. So it’s been tough to keep my eyes on the end prize. And as much as I don’t like rashes on my face, to know that my body is working hard to dispel toxins, and it’s working, that was a little boost for me.

Tomorrow marks halfway!

I did it. One more Lemonade Diet in the books. When day 10 comes around it’s time to quit. Or is it?

What a journey. If you planned to go 10 days, congrats, you made it. Some people plan to go longer and for you, you can still feel proud. Use the momentum that you have gained to push through to your goal.

Many people often take their “Stride” and chose to ride out the “High” for a few more days. After all it has gotten pretty easy not. The worst of the detox is behind them. Why not push through for a few more days. How do you know if it is the right time for you to quit is a question I hear a lot. Lets consider a few details:

Signs that you should keep on Cleansing

Just because these signs are present doesn’t mean you must keep cleansing. You reached your goal. If you have had your fill of Master Cleanse (so to speak), take your accomplishment and leave the cleansing for later. That was a great start. Doing it again in 3, 6, or 9 months later you will pick up where you left off (assuming you don’t get back on a Retox Diet straight away and consistently for months).

[adrotate banner="8"]

Some signs like the white tongue don’t resolved until 30 days or more of either continuous cleansing, or a cleansing cycle.

The key to know if you should quit or not is to learn how to listen to your body. Trust your intuition. If you feel it’s time to quit; quit. If you feel like continuing; continue.

You planned do more than 10 days. If you’re feeling good, and your plan was for 14 day. Keep going you can do it.

You feel amazing, so why not a little longer.

You have plenty of ingredients left AND you feel amazing. Don’t keep going if you’re ready to quit but have extra maple syrup. Make a maple syrup salmon like I am going to in 3 days.

You feel you have more weight to lose. Again don’t let this drive if you feel you must quit. Learn to listen to your body.

You feel your detox is just getting started. Your tongue is still very white and your movements very dark and chunky. Again. Listen to your body.

Signs that it is time to quit the Master Cleanse

Remember: quitting isn’t a 4 letter word. It is a word that needs re-branding. You have reached your goal. You are not quitting. You are stopping, and there is a different. Even if you didn’t make your 10 days, you have still much to be proud of. Just starting is the first step. In time you’ll take more. My first yoga class my instructor said the first goal is just to stay in the room. Be proud of yourself and support yourself in your decision, whatever it is.

You have a strong desire to eat.

You have physical hunger or weakness –feelings of not enough energy.

You’re tongue is white and/or your movements are clear.

You feel stress about a scheduling conflict coming that you didn’t plan for.

You’re satisfied with your accomplishment and wish to leave it at that.

What do you think? Are you quitting at 10 days? Did you plan for more than 10 days. Did you quit early? What were the factors that helped you make up your mind?

Congratulations! We did it.

This Lemonade Diet for me was my best ever. Maybe because I was so involved this time. All I did the last 10 days was The Master Cleanse. I ate, drank and slept The Lemonade Diet. (well, OK –drank, drank and slept The Lemonade Diet)…

All the writing, planning, developing, designing, interviewing, flushing, mixing and pooping was all so much fun.

Thanks again for letting me share it with you and participating.

Here I go getting all nostalgic when I still have the Ease-Out to go. I am off now to buy my Oranges for the Orange Juice Day, Ease-In Day 1…. Yay!!!!

Because Day 8 follows Day 7 (obviously), which is a nice milestone, and because Day 9 is so close to the finish line, Day 8 becomes the day when the two-face word “compromise” comes to be spoken, leading many to quit the lemonade diet early.

Don’ get me wrong, 7 days is a great accomplishment, especially for the first time cleanser. And since I have redefined the work “Fail”, you have only achieved leaving nothing to be ashamed of.

[adrotate banner="8"]

But, if you haven’t quit yet. Don’t. You can do it. Just 2 more days.

Tomorrow you can tell yourself that tomorrow is the last day (of the Lemonade Diet). Once you start the Ease-Out, you feel you are done, even though it is many hours before you get to taste your favorite comfort food again.

There are few reasons why you should continue, and choose not to compromise just yet.

Compromise is Two-Faced

I called compromise “two-faced”. This is because it seems like a good thing and a bad thing all at the same time. Sure, it is good to compromise at times. Marriages and collaborations require compromise to be successful. It feels great in those situations where two minds differ in their wants and happy resolution that accommodates both is found. But when you are standing on principal, fighting for a goal, fixated on a vision quest, compromise is the same thing as defeat.

7 days is good, but 10 days was your goal. Go get your goal. You can do it. Imagine how good you feel now with your sense of accomplishment of reaching 7 days, and then triple it because you went 10. 3 days equals triple the value because you nearly compromised, but didn’t, AND you reached your goal like you said you would.

10 Days really is important

I will never take a week long vacation again. By the time I get unpack, get settled, recover from the travel day, get lost a few times the first few day while finding what I like to do, and where to spend my time, get packed, spend another day traveling –it feels like I only had 2 days of vacation.

This is what The Master Cleanse is like for 7 day cleansers. 10 days is only 3 days better, but it makes the value days more valuable. You have more focused cleansing days following the first 4 crazy days. The deep, latter-day’s are when you feel the rewards. 10 days probably isn’t long enough either. 14 would be good. or a 30 day cycle. 10 days on The Master Cleanse, 10 Days of Living Food, and 10 Days on The Master Cleanse again.

Are you ready to quit? Do you feel this is enough? I know I did last night. I was really missing eating. But now, as I write this, this day is half over and tomorrow I will be able to say tomorrow is my last day!!!

Until next time,

Happy Cleansing

For me, turning that corner towards the home stretch has 3 major pieces of awesome.

First, I am almost home, and that feels great. But second, this is the time when I begin to hit my stride. I gain so much confidence from my accomplishment. My process is smooth and completely out of my way. I feel like I can go forever. Finally, my mind and body has reached a state of efficiency as well. It now knows what to expect and has readjusted to a new optimal state.

Confidence

Confidence is an incredible motivator and fuel for success. There were a few reasons why my hockey career fizzled, but the nail in the coffin was confidence. I remember on game in Mobile, Alabama when I did the exact same ridiculously awful play in two consecutive plays. It was remarkable who the play developed back-to-back to enable the opportunity for me to fail (as a disclaimer on the word failure, I believe all failures are good, and that the word needs to be redefined) on such an embarrassing level.

[adrotate banner="8"]

In the dressing room after the period was over my coach embarrassed me more, directly in front of my teammates. It was humiliating. A few months earlier I was playing with Team Canada, and now I could keep from putting myself offside when no one was around to pressure me. At that moment I said “How about a little confidence coach”. His 1 track typical hockey player/coach mind couldn’t provide me with the encouragement I needed at that time. It is way easier to make fun, than to make better.

Now that I have 7 successfully behind me and I know I can overcome the worst the Master Cleanse has to offer, I know I can move on. This gives my step a little swagger, and that is clearly displayed in my presence.

Efficient Processes

These days I design software and information. All this work is very cerebral. I juggle a lot of concepts in my mind and manipulate non-tangible objects in a computer screen all day. That takes a lot of metal power –so much so that if I didn’t have good systems in place I wouldn’t be effective. Truthfully speaking, it has taken me a better part of a decade to discover and employ tactics that create a system of workflow that gets out of my way and increases my potential and productivity.

Having the right tools and the right script makes any process easier. This much is obvious to everyone, but it amazes me how many people start off without proper tools and instruction, and then because of that are much more likely to be frustrated with their progress leading them to quit.

The Optimal State of Mind

When you hit this flow zone, your mind and reaches a state of optimal performance. It is firing on all cylinders, and hitting its stride. This state of mind only comes when confidence is gained through the repetition of an efficient process. While this sounds awfully mechanical, I can assure you it isn’t.

First, change your perspective about the repetition of the process. Learn to love the improvement you notice with each repetition –be present in the process– rather than longing for that future when you will be “good” one day.

Second, when you have a framework established creativity flourishes. You have a great deal of freedom to “riff” off of when you have an established set of fundamentals. It is the framework that gives you freedom to “play”; to experiment for the joy of seeing what you can accomplish with the skills you have, and are developing. And finally, it is when we are children at play, that we enter an optimal state of mind and hit our stride.

The metaphor of “hitting your stride” comes from running. There is a point when runners find a rhythm, and grove that their stride seems effortless. This just doesn’t happen to first time runners. It happens to runners with just a little experience, a present sense of concentrated playfulness.

At this stage of The Master Cleanse, I have hit my stride.

Have you?

Do you feel the confidence building? Is your system established and working for you? Has you body adopted to it’s new reality and is performing at an optimal state?

When training for hockey, I did a lot of running, cycling, stair-climbing and other cadrio, weights and plyometrics. No matter what the activity, it was always grueling. Most of the time is was a psychological marathon before (and during) the exercise itself.

[adrotate banner="8"]

When your staring down a 5 mile course which you must run in 40 minutes, you know you will be challenged. You know it will be an exhausting, punishing event.

The way I have always coped with these types of challenges is to chunk them. Little did I know I was doing this all along, but today, chunking has become leading tool in productivity.

Chunking has a few meanings: In Psychology it describes how the brain organizes memories into familiar manageable units –which lead to an application in communications whereby one writes units of information in a series of chunks so that it can be both delivered, and received well in speeches and reports. Now this term is most commonly used to describe a productivity method in contrast to multi-tasking. When a large project presents itself, you block of smaller, but still large enough chunks of related activity so that it pushes your complete, but is easily achieve.

I utlized chunking in my 5 mile run. I would break down the run in my mind into thirds (you can use any unit size that makes sense). That way, I could focus on accomplishing a more manageable task. “Just get past the first third, and make sure you have enough pace to make my time in the next 2/3, but not too much so that I will run out of gas during the next 2/3″. Then, when I arrive at the next third, I could say to myself, “OK, last third before the last third” (which sounds absurd, but it works). The of course I the last third can be focused on for the sprint to the finish line.

I apply chunking to The Master Cleanse first by Groups (Ease-In, The Lemonade Diet, and Ease-Out), and second by days. This is actually a little bit of a stretch for chuncking because there are too many units, and too short of chunks relative to the overall timeframe. Despite having 10 units of days during The Lemonade Diet, the process still benefits by chuncking. The result of this is actually the Day-to-Day Naming Contest, of which this article explores on: Day 6 of course :).

That brings us to today’s chunk called the Corner. If Hump Day on Day 4 revealed some light peeking through the end of the tunnel, today we can see the exit of the tunnel –a clear round light beckoning us to get to and pass through. Our path to success is well lit. We feel the momentum or our success. We have the confidence of having the worst of the physical effects of The Master Cleanse behind us. The majority of effort is complete and we can begin to ease into a nice pace towards the finish line.

Turning this corner feels wonderful. I am now looking a two small chunks. This weekend, and the 3 little days next week. I can manage those chunks no problem.

How do you feel about chunking? Does it help with your process? Is this an appropriate name for Day 6?

In that post I talked about what I call Healing Events. Tom Woloshyn, author of The Complete Master Cleanse refers to Healing Events as Healing Crisis, but I prefer the term Healing Events since it casts the event in a more positive light.

[adrotate banner="8"]

Healing Events (Healing Crisis)

The Healing Events truly are positive as they represent the exit of something that caused a Disease Event when they were ingested in the first place. There is a saying in the Master Cleanser Community about the side effects we call Healing Events: “Sick in, Sick out”. This means when you picked up something like a flu virus, or bacteria, or something your body wanted to reject, you experience a Disease Event. Your body was not “At Ease”, or in a state of “Dis-Ease” because of it. You body’s immune system then deploys any and all available defines mechanisms to expel the intruder. These mechanisms include:

	1.	Stuffed Nose, Runny Nose or Congestion
2.	Cough, and Sneezes
3.	Soar throats and swollen glands.
4.	Fatigue, Muscle aches and other Cold and Flu Symptoms
5.	Skin Irritations such as Rashes and Breakouts
6.	Headaches
7.	Fevers
8.	Cold sores or other mouth sores

I am happy to report that I am Side Effect free. I have no healing crisis at this point. My tongue is white and my breath stinks but I have no break outs, cold chills, fever or other cold like symptoms.

What about you? Do you have Healing Events?

What days have your experienced your healing events? is it usually around the 3rd 4th or 5th day of The Lemonade Diet? How long do they last? Where they severe?

Until next time, Happy Cleansing,

As a former professional hockey player, I was witness to some pretty amazing examples of momentum. I am not talking about the momentum from high school physics that deals (although the analogy has its’ roots here). I am talking about the extra man, the silent motivator, the wind at your back when you perceive fortune and opportunity is shining on you.

I am talking about when my junior hockey team was down 7-1 in the third period, and an event occurs; one that changes the direction of energy. In this game it was a goal and a fight by the same player on the same play. Our bench exploded with energy because we were all so angry about the current reality.

[adrotate banner="8"]

Now there have been other games when we were down by a lot and nothing changed the momentum for us. There was nothing that tilted the rink in our favor that caused us to believe the rest of the game would be different.

After that goal/fight, we believed, and believed with a passion (an almost fervor), that would <del>could</del>, no would come back –AND, we did just that.

For me, Day 4 is that shift from, “Oh, I don’t think I can do this”, to “This is no problem”.

Many people have no problems from Day 1. Not me. I always have some concern, discomfort, or sense of loss for my food (even if just a little). I too have to overcome the physical hump of the first 3 days. But Day 4 is when I feel the tide turning. And even though I haven’t turned the corner just yet; I may still be down 7-2, but I know <del>if</del>, no, when I score a 1 more goal, or make it one more day I will be around that corner. There is now light at the end of the tunnel.

Tomorrow is the halfway point, and when I get there it’s all down hill from here.

What do you think of Momentum? How does it play a roll in the way you feel about the process of The Lemonade Diet? Let us know. And don’t forget to provide your feedback about The Master Cleanse Day-to-Day Naming Contest. Maybe this day is more suited to something else?

Much like the characteristics that momentum in a game takes, each of the days of The Lemonade Diet, to me, takes on some character. And that’s what I am trying to illustrate with the Day-to-Day Naming Contest. What are the characteristics of each day?

Posted in 2010.01-Winter

Latest posts from The Master Cleanse and Lemonade Diet

Last night and this morning I struggled a little, and was reminded why I called today humpday in my Day-to-Day Experience.

Last night was my second night on the Laxative, and I didn’t do the SWF so I was due for a good movement. I didn’t make it through the night.

Half-way through the night I awoke to fairly bad cramps, dizziness and general poor feeling. I knew immediately I had to go to the bathroom. After 2 “dry-heaves” I was able to have some movement, but I really don’t like the feeling of a movement with out the water of the Salt Water Flush. I was quickly reminded why I thought it might be a good idea to skip the Nightly Laxative and opt instead just to do the Salt Water Flush every morning. But since interviewing Tom Woloshyn I have decided to persevere through the Laxative because he is so sure that it is a big help with stirring up the waste that you will expel each morning with the SWF. I still highly recommend the SWF in the morning –even though the taste (and an after taste that didn’t seem to want to go away) almost made me throw up for 30 minutes while I waited for my movement.

[adrotate banner="8"]

Why The Lemonade Humpday is so Hard

I think there are 3 reasons why humpday is so hard.

1. Stockpile of Toxins: Maybe there is so much to pass out of me for the first 3/4 days that the mornings, and movements are so shocking that it causes a lot of people to quit. I was second guessing myself this morning briefly while I held back vomit and assumed the fetal position in my bed. The movements get easier and easier as they get cleaner and cleaner throughout the day.

2. Physical Hunger: Our bodies are still really aware of the recent past when we used to eat. We have an expectation of a meal coming around the same time each day. 4 days later we has started to create a new expectation of food –The Lemonade.

3. Process Perfection: I admit: my nausea this morning is mostly my fault. My water sucks. I am not in my settled home and don’t have access to the water source I would like. Today solve this problem by finding some pure, healthy, tasty water to help me. I also don’t have my measures and chuggables to help me drink the SWF the way I like it –chugging it. This speaks volumes about how important preparation and how it can help with Successfully Starting The Master Cleanse. After a few days, regardless of or preparation, we will naturally make adjustments so that the process is easier.
