Group Cleanse Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for the Topic of Detox and The Salt Water Flush for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush

The Salt Water Flush (SWF) might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system. What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?

So I am starting this tomorrow and I am half way of understanding it and half way confused.

Do I have to do the salt water every morning before the cleanse?

So doing the cleanse is drinking as much as I want per day? Or is it a certain amount only?

We do this for 10 days and then do the rest of the things 3 days?

Yeah reagardless how amny times I am reading it I am confused and or maybe its my mind playing tricks on me.

    Please help…..

    Day 1 Master Cleanse 6pm

Alright seems to have gotten through most of this first day just A-Ok.
Got up at 6am this morning to get enough time at home for SWF and all the elimination that comes with that pleasant wake-up call. Had a hard time getting a good, full sleep last night so really dragged myself out of bed, 6am was later then I wanted…
was a little weak, and very tired so took me a few minutes to adjust to the idea of the SWF first thing…But I did it, warmed some water got my tsps all in there, sat on the couch and gulped it, felt very funny in my body but I got just about every sip down…then the waiting game begins, as I waited for the eliminations, I prepared everything for my first lemonade before work, and my lemonade kit to bring to work for the week, my tea! And my water. Dehydration is proving to be a difficult one.
Seems I take about 1 1/4 to start eliminating which was pushing it to my leaving the house time. But I made it! I also woke up with some serious belly cramping from the laxative, I hope that cools down, gonna try a different type of the tea tonight, let you know how it goes.
    Happy healing!

Lemonade day 1 – The SWF was no fun! I only made about 24 oz. with 1 1/2 tsp. salt. I was only able to get about 18 oz. down before my throat tried to close up on me. I woke up this morning and immediately had a bowel movement from the tea last night so I’ve only had 2 more today so far. I read that you can alter the amount of salt and water to your body’s reaction. I feel the 18oz and 1 tsp. will do the trick. Might also try adding a little drop or two of lemon to tame the flavor of drowning in the ocean!

    Lemonade Day 1

Since I’m drinking my lemonade in 1 liter increments, instead of the usual cup each time….I’ve had three movements already. I’m using alot of cayenne pepper (probably a good TB) per liter. I love hot spicy food so for me, it’s no big deal to use a lot. Although, it did cause an emergency situation this morning as I was driving from one office to the other. I had to make a pit stop at Jack in the Box. Luckily, I rushed out as quick as I had come in….I didn’t want to even consider staying there longer than necessary.

So salt water-schmalt water….cayenne can be pretty effective too for flushing out toxins. From what I heard, it was mostly water.

So far I’ve had almost no discomfort. I’m getting over a cold/cough that I got almost a month ago but that’s about it.

    Day 1 of Lemonade –
Dared to take on the SWF this morning before mixing up the lemonade. I am usually all about taking one for the team, but this was quite the challenge.
2 tbsp. un-iodized kosher sea salt and 1 quart pure warm water.
Had it in my head that I was more than qualified in being able to chug this solution. First few chugs, gulp gulp gulp, and the gag reflexes in kicked in. Had to slow it down. Took a few breathers in between the gulping. Able to feel the solution sorta just hanging out down there. Made it to about 2 cups left. Took a deep breath began to chug away again and then it all came back up the way it went down.
Pretty disappointed and wondering if anyone has been successful, and if so what tips you may have (besides what is already on this website about the SWF).
Good luck to everyone. Stay strong!

KT – I had an awful experience with the SWF this morning. Not only did the gag reflex kick in, but I projectile vomited the entire glass of water in my toilet. It was awful, and so I’ve decided to forego the SWF this time around. I’ve only been able to successfully do all 10 days of the SWF once – my first MC. I’m now on my 5 cleanse and have had good results without the flush.

Hi – I did the same but then went back and read and it says 2 teaspoons or 1 table spoon? Are we doing too much salt?

      Thank you

I read that is is ok to reduce your amount of water but I didn’t want to throw the balance off too much so I cut back on some of the water. What he says in the SWF video is true…I chugged about half of it because I knew as soon as I stopped I would taste it. I also did the staring at myself in the eyes bit while I chugged. It was like I was intimidating myself to keep it down. I felt VERY sick when I was done. I immediately brushed my teeth and that REALLY helped! Maybe try that?? Better luck tomorrow!!

In preparing for this I read comments from those who had done this before. Some said that when doing the SWF, instead of mixing the salt in four cups of water, they mix it in one cup, drink that down fast and follow it with three more cups of water. This has worked for me as I have a strong gag reflex and didn’t think I could handle it.

Common mistake to do 2TBSP. It should only be 2Tsps. though!
As Tom Woloshyn says in his book ‘the complete master cleanse’
Try it with less salt, and maybe give it a day to pump yourself back up to doing it, Tom W. also says he takes 10min drinking it, pretending its a soup broth…mind over matter! good luck, hope something works!

    Ease-in day 3 @ 9:45

Part of my detox is fresh air and movement, today was taken up with movement, fresh air and getting fully ready for the Master Cleanse.
I haven’t felt any effects from my laxative tea yet and glad I’m drinking it cause I’ve eliminated but very small and that’s cause it’s been just juice today and live foods last few days. I’m definitly excited about tomorrow and starting the full detox.
My excitement takes over my nervousness because I feel ready emotionally which I found important in the past.
I’ve had good results with the SWF in the past, was very interesting the first time for sure, I’ve tried both ways of drinking it all at once or taking 10min to drink slowly, I find I like to stand in the bathroom at the mirror and drinking it at once, maybe take a middle brake. It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes to eliminate, I’ll wanna get it all done with before walk to work. And hope I get a lemonade in before work also. I’ve got lots of tea’s and my water all set to go to work in the morning. Got my salt, measuring spoon and jar all ready in the morning, all I gotta do is get to bed an up early enough.
Goodnight cleansers;) yay first day tomorrow;)

    Ease-In Day 3 12:04pm

Yesterday I had two normal bowel movements. The second one in the evening was especially smallish since I had eaten vegetable soup on Friday at work.

Tomorrow night I will need to do my first SWF and tea since today is my juice only day. I’ve been reading some of the comments from others about the SWF and I hope that my experience is not as awful as some folks. Instead of a sweet tooth, I love salty foods. So I’m hoping that will help. I will warm up some water and do it that way since I think that will help.

I actually more afraid of using too little salt than too much since I really want success on the SWF.

This is my first try on the master cleans and everything has gone well except i feel not all the salt water comes out and i get back pains, and yes i use the right salt and amount but the problem is now that my eyes on the exact same place on both is red like red lines to the pupils. Has this happened to anybody?

I just read your comment and I have the same thing going on with one of my eyes. It is as red as if I have “pink eye” but no other symptoms. I wear contacts so I took those out last night and have been wearing my glasses ever since and it’s still red. I’m on an antibiotic that is making me sick while doing The Master Cleanse so I’m stopping until I’m done with them. Let me know if you find out about the eye problem. :)

    Ease-In Day 2 8:58pm

I just got home from doing some errands and shopping for a new bed with my boyfriend. During my outing I was ok for the most part although I experienced some cravings and “what if” moments.

“What if we went to our regular eatery and had a little food?”
“What if we just do it this once?”

I had to remind myself of why I am doing this cleanse in the first place. To detox my body of as much “bad” to make it a healthier environment for a fetus, to reset my eating habits, to rid myself of cravings for food that is bad for me. Those are pretty powerful reasons and are my own.

    Ease-in day 2 7:50pm

    Well same weight, lol.
Waiting for the SWF Monday morning, I’m getting ready to really start this detox, get rid of all the unneccessary baggage in so many levels;) my angel card for day 2 today was ‘Obedience’ woohoo…yes please, I surrender and ask for obedience to stay on this cleanse for the better of my health and overall life.
I’m tired after today, wasn’t even a big day, pretty mellow, amazing yoga class, cold evening outside fire with friends and I can feel that my body is starting its detox, I know the first few days will be the hardest on my body, it’s good I got my work just to focus on, still hoping ill be able to get up and go early enough to walk 20-30minto work and do the SWF at home with time. I’m not the best morning person. I know when I do it once and with my whole kick start to health it’ll only get easier and more envigorating;) excited for tomorrow, I’m just going for orange juice n maybe a little left over veg juice, I know my tummy is gonna go through adjustment, funny tummy. Happy healing everyone;) to another wonderful health filled day tomorrow;)
