Group Cleanse Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for the Topic of Detox and The Salt Water Flush for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush

The Salt Water Flush (SWF) might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system. What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?

Oh no! I’m still getting used to the forum. I posted about SWF on the process and lemonDe page

Day 2: 1 quart of water, 2 tsp sea salt. I took it down in one chug and felt a little nauseas after for about ten minutes. I laid back down until I had a movement about an hour later.

Day 3: yuck!! SWF tasted horrible and I had to physically keep myself from throwing it up soon as I got it down. Felt extremely sick to my stomach but walked slowly to my room and laid down. The feeling subsided in about ten minutes but I never really had a flush today. Two small movements. I felt like I retained the majority of the flush! A little frustrating but hoping for better tomorrow.

good morning! today is day 2 and I cannot bring myself to do the swf. I had a horrible experience with retaining it during my first M/C (10 yrs ago). I am taking lax-tea morning and nifgt. I tries the benz clay last night and it was awful and made me nauseous.

I only had 5 L/As yesterday, so will try to do better today.

Day 1 and I did the SWF. Honestly I was pretty worried about doing this. Surprisingly it wasn’t that hard to drink. I took my time and had it finished in about 10min. In less than 20min I was in the bathroom eliminating. This continued off and on for the next 90min. Tomorrow I will try the SWF hot like a broth and see how I like it.

Day one, the SWF was surprisingly easy to get down. I chugged it in one go, no breaks and focused my eyes one thing. I laid on my right side after and it began working in about 1 1/2 hours. So far so good!!

Day two was much easier. I made the saltwater hot and pretended it was a nice broth, and I used a straw. Much easier than luke warm like yesterday.

I did this and it almost killed me – its been 14 months since and I still don’t have my voice back, my breathing and most of all I developed narcalepsy – doctors don’t know what happened and only treating with perscriptions that I doint take … I retain so much water I have to wear retensions socks … if I didn’t quit smoking I would have dies within the 2 weeks my body fell apart, I gained 13 pant sizes and bloated like a freaking blow fish, all from doing this so called miracle master cleanse ! … be very very very cautious doing this people – there are no so called experts and no one to date (that act like professionals on the matter) will even address it … im more or less dying a slow breathless death right now and something this diet did to me wont stop hurting me over a year later!
If you know of this and a cure for these terrifyingly painful and scary side effects then please do so – it would appear that when I changed my diet to organic and farm meat and grass fed and finished meats, my narcalepsy started to go away, and also with the aid of a CPAP machine … I didn’t have these problems before this cleanse but sure have had nothing but problems since I did it.

PS – the above issues and weight gains occurred during the 2-4 weeks I was on the diet – the side effects have not left since and continue to ruin my life and health.

      Hi Derrik,

I am sorry to hear about your experience, and your struggles with your health. I don’t want to diminsh your experience, nor defend the master cleanse, but I do want to offer you a few thoughts for you to consider.

Health is a very complex thing, of course, and there are many co-existing issues, that are either triggered, emergent, discovered, developed etc. over time or seemingly at at one time. The Master Cleanse is a technique used by many to overcome simple conditions quickly and complex ones over time (involving extremely persistent and dedicated variations of diet, testing, fasting, and yes even medications). It clearly sounds like you’re dealing with some significant physical, emotional and psychological co-related issues for which I would recommend that you see a “Functional Medicine” practicing MD or ND who may or may not involve The Master Cleanser as part of your sustained program toward health.

I would also like to suggest that while the Master Cleanse can certainly reveal a level of toxicity, it’s never been reported to CAUSE such as cascade of issues as those you’re dealing with. Obviously you’re an individual, with a specific history, and even a specific approach to your cleanse. For example. What conditions were you struggling with that brought you to the cleanse in the first place? How did you you go about your cleanse? For how long? How much lemonade did you drink? Did you mix it fresh? Did you drink water? Did you have daily movements? Did you cheat? Did you break your cleanse well? Did you start a probiotic after the cleanse? What diet did you go back to? How long until your “new” issues presented themselves. Any variations from the exact routine can amplify your effects, or even cause various imbalances that need to be addressed with you NEXT “F.A.S.T.” or food selection program.

When struggling with multiple or complex health issues one can not simply hope for “miracles” in the form of pills, surgery, diets, or even protocols like the master cleanse. One must make a conscious effort to work through the decades of influence that brings about systemic disease and to outline what steps must be taken to address the root cause(s), bringing us towards wellness –slowly sometimes, but nevertheless, surely. A good functional medicine doctor will help you get there. Google “Functional Medicine [CITY]” (where CITY = the name of your city). There is also a great resource here, that lists doctors and explains what functional medicine is about.

I wish you the best of luck and good health.

      Mike

I am happy that I made it through all 10 days. This detox has been tough and I have not had a day where I felt well. I have only had moments when I wasn’t having cramping, diarrhea, cold symptoms, or nausea. I hope this cleanse did what my body needed. It sure seems like there was a lot going on internally.

Has anyone had hot flashes? No I’m not pre-menopausal but I have these hot flashes during the day but mostly at night. They don’t last long and I am assuming it is my body and my metabolism at work but I just wanted to see if any of you are experiencing this. I don’t have any of the flu symptoms and have lots of energy.

I am glad I stuck with it through the 10 days…. I would feel horrible if I had quit for no good reason. I won’t miss the salt water flushes, but I think I will keep the spicy lemonade for my morning elixir except I will go back to honey instead of maple syrup. My hubby is a bee keeper, so I get the raw good stuff!
Did anyone notice a chalky coating on their teeth during this process? I did on some days but it is gone now. I never noticed the tongue coating but I have had the nasal drip all day yesterday so clearly I was still cleansing too!
Are you guys planning to post here during the ease out? I will try to get on here but I will be busier with work this weekend too!
