Group Cleanse Support Topic: Social Support from Family and Friends

This page is a Support Topic Page for The Social Support from Family and FriendsĀ for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

We have probably all experienced the “What’s wrong with you?” look when telling friends or family that we are trying the Master Cleanse. And equally, most of us have at least one person in our life who supports us. The Lemonade Diet is difficult, and (dis)approval by our peers can make all the difference.

In fact, that is why I started this Master Cleanse Group Experience diary; we can support each other.

Let us know about the people and experiences you have each and every day. Who made fun of you? Who showed compassion? Who understood the cleansing, and who thought you were nuts?

If you are not participating, you can follow the post to get inspiration to try the cleanse or answer the most basic question: Is The Master Cleanse right for me?

Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

If you haven’t yet, go ahead and register for the Group Cleanse to get our “Guided Cleanse Experience” email sequence timed to correspond with your registration and the important days as the come up during our scheduled group cleanses.

Adios group cleansers! It has been one very interesting 10-day run. Will we all ever do this again? Probably some of us. Good health to everyone!

Day 9 – My coworkers are awesome, I got a countdown and a you can do it this morning! So glad to have them around all day and hopped on late this evening here. Yay, we are gonna make it!
    Tomorrow is our final day!
My SO squeezed my lemons for me this morning, i was running late. That was the best gesture.

Oh no- so sorry Cathy! I hope your family member is ok and recovers fully! Good luck with the rest of the cleanse if you choose to stay on it.
I am so grateful for the support here with you ladies. This has been one place I can go and not worry about whether I am grossing someone out or boring them lol. My family have been great this whole time. They have given me space, said supportive things and most of all been proud of me and grateful that I haven’t been moody or hangry during the past 9 days!
My friends have been great too…. not inviting me to tempting lunches and my hubby even joined me in a lemonade one evening!

Day 9 When I go out someplace where being around food is unavoidable (like going to the hockey game tonight) I know if I asked him my husband would abstain from eating. It would be hard for him, but he would do it. My son checks in with me and asks how I am doing. But I think unless you are actually doing this cleanse it is very hard to relate to what it is like. Plus, many people have different experiences while on it. Thanks to everyone for the support and comments here. I noticed that there wasn’t much on Facebook either. So much so that I wondered if I was on the correct “Master Cleanse” page.

Day 9: we were notified this morning that a family member had a stroke last night and we are making arrangements to get to California ASAP. Depending on what we can get accomplished quickly, I may or may not be in here again.

It has been a pleasure cleansing with each one of you, and I mean that. I plan to do this again in May. I hope to be able to finish out this cleanse as intended if possible.

I’m not sure what else to say about my wonderful family! My daughter helped me clean out the pantry today in preparation for the Whole30. She was fine with it! My son said “Maybe I should do that lemonade stuff.” I told him I didn’t think it was appropriate for him because he is only 16. Then we started talking about the Whole30, and he decided he would do that with me. My husband has already been doing something similar, as he is a diabetic. So, our whole family is going to change how we eat. I’m so excited!

80 % done… I like that perspective. My husband was great today when I told him I was struggling. Just words of affirmation and the support here go a long way. I have kept busy all day since groceries- got my boys 2 rooms cleaned out and the freezer somewhat organized! Doing mindless busy work like that works for me. I get so engrossed I lose track of time and I don’t have to think too much .
There is hardly anything on facebook which is kind of disappointing. I would have like a daily post from Mike the expert, not just on occasion here and there…. hint hint in case you are reading this :P

Day 8. I have had to tell 2 more people that I am doing the MC because I had to explain why I am not eating when they wanted to meet me for lunch and noon was the only available time. Neither one said much, and I will take that kind of neutral response over a negative response any day. I am 80% through the MC, and the support here has been invaluable.
