I have heard it said (and I have said it myself), that once you vary The Master Cleanse it’s no longer The Master Cleanse, but something else altogether. I do agree with that statement, but at the same time, why should we have to name every variation on The Master Cleanse? What would happen if we added something to The Master Cleanse, resulting in something new altogether, like for example, The Master Cleanse Plus Coconut?

Secondly, I have witnessed the intense reaction that “Strict” Burroughs advocates (meaning Master Cleansers who won’t vary from the inventors, Stanley Burrough’s original recipe and procedure), and the defensive posturing that these newly indoctrinated alternative practitioners present.

I have also heard it said, by someone who’s done The Master Cleanse a few times , in defence of The Master Cleanse and Stanley Burroughs that the world of “Authority” would like the world at large to believe they are the only people who can have insight into issues of health, wellness and life in general.

As if, the experiences of individuals is worthless unless you have a PHD or MD, or have conducted a “Clinical Trial” (for all that is worth in many cases).

When I introduced the Ease-In, it was a departure form the procedure, and although I felt it was perfectly placed, and useful, some stalwarts won’t see the benefit.

Simply put, The Master Cleanse is a Juice Fast. And there are all kinds of fasts of all kinds of juices. So why couldn’t one add a juice or two to the process to balance some of deficiencies in The Master Cleanse.

What’s more, you can think of The Master Cleanse as an internal IV solution, a dosage of a prescribed medicine, or a cocktail of nutrients aimed for a specific purpose. When you realize this, then you start to think of these juice fasts, or just doses of juice at at time as boosters, or food medicine as Dr. Hyman of the Blood Sugar Solution likes to say.

Now consider that The Master Cleanse has some tolerable deficiencies in nutrients and vitamins in order to achieve certain goals such as resting the digestive system, providing enzymes and natural cleansers.

It’s true that there is no fat, protein or fiber. But do we want any of that in our juice fast? What consequences would there be if we introduced new ingredients from a micro perspective.

Master Cleanse Deficiencies and Proficiencies

This table below lists the ingredients and the nutritional composition of 12 glasses of the Lemonade consumed each day. What is often noted by the ignorant reactants is that The Master Cleanse is a starvation diet. Of course it is not. 12 glasses = 1064 calories. They also say that there is no nutrition. Of course there is. In some areas The Master Cleanse is proficient in nutritional composition. Yes it is true that some areas are deficient. But before I address how we might address those with a variation of The Master Cleanse, I would like to point out how nutritionally deficient we all are anyway.

In North America the nutritional deficiency of food is at epidemic proportions.

Of those nutrients most often correctly referred to by opponents of The Master Cleanse include #1 Protein, #2 Complex Carbohydrates, #Fats(the good kind) and  #4 Select Nutrients with no representation at all including Vitamin D and Vitamin B12.

Why not take supplements you might ask?

And many people do ask that. And the answer is always that it will limit the effectiveness of the cleanse. But, how do we know that? And which nutrients exactly would have that negative effect? And why? Now I don’t expect a coherent collective opinion to say the least. I do expect opinions all over the map about this. So here’ mine.

Taking supplements in pill form would be very hard on your stomach. Many people do The Master Cleanse Plus Protein, and usually in the form of some liquid protein. But we probably don’t want too much complex protein, because I would think that introducing that component might have the body wondering what to do with it and so it might start a new set of processess counter to our objectives of resting the digestive system and aiding the elimination systems of the body.

So, if we could find another sugar, with a low-glycemic index, and filled in the gaps of some of those deficient nutrients, and perhaps contributed a few amino acids to aid our bodies own ability to synthesize protein from existing resources in the body (which should be at a premium with the enzymatic action of the lemonade breaking down those resources to their core components to be eliminated or used again.

Now there is only a few acceptable sugars including, Molasses and Sorghum, and my new favourite (and apparently everybody’s) super food, the Coconut.

The Master Cleanse Plus Coconut might provide a perfect compliment to the

Maple Syrup Diet and The Lemonade Diet

  1. Molasses
  2. Soghrum Syupr
  3. Cane Sugar
  4. Cocunut Sap

Coconut sap sugar is obtained by boiling freshly harvested toddy/sap in moderate heat to evaporate the water. It has a high potential for use as natural sweetener. This product is already exported to Australia, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Hongkong, and Malaysia. Thailand is the major producer. A comparative analysis made by he PCA Plant Tissue Analysis Laboratory reveals that coconut sugar contains more amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sodium, chlorine, sulfur, boron, zinc, and copper compared to refined cane or brown sugar. Hence, coconut sap sugar is more nutritious than commonly used sugar products.

Examples of Poor Choices and their Sugars

  1. Maple Syrup – 55% Glucose 45% Fructose
  2. Agave – 90% Fructose – 10% Glucose

Fructose spikes Cholesterol that damages heart and circulatory. Yes it’s true that the higher the Fructose level the lower the glycemic index. And what’s more Fructose has to be converted to GLUCOSE. But the Glycemic index is not the whole story.

Sure, no sugar is going in your blood stream….

Sucrose is a Molecule that is Half Fructose and Glucose….

Coconut Nectar VS. Maple Syrup

Coconut Nectar (furnished by Coconut Secret) is 0.5% glucose, 1.5% fructose, and 16% sucrose from the Tree. Most of it’s water so when you evaporate that water you end up with 8-10%, 10-12% fructose and 74% sucrose.

Coconut Sap after the Sucrose breakdown gives a Total Breakdown of 46% Glucose and 48% – Fructose

Maple Syrup has a little better split – 67% Sugar – 33% Water of that there is 55% Glucose and 45% Fructose

PROTEIN – Enzymatic Action in the DIGESTIVE SYTEM!!!

Maple syrup has some protein. But 1/100 of what they have
