Group Cleanse Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for the Topic of Detox and The Salt Water Flush for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush

The Salt Water Flush (SWF) might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system. What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?

Hello! Quick question. Are you supposed to SWF and laxative when you lead in and lead out? Can’t find this info anywhere. Thanks for all you do! VR Jairus

SWF is optional but highly recommended. Usually do the SWF in the morning, laxative at night. Ease-In and Ease-Out before and after the Lemonade Diet portion.

I am on day six and have lost six pounds. Every time I do this I feel great and have more clarity. Energy is never a problem, in fact I have more. I prefer to go the laxative route because the salt water flush never seems to work for me. The last three times I’ve done this cleanse I tried the salt water. I use two heaping teaspoons of sea salt per liter of water. I heat the water up just enough to dissolve the salt…It’s like Luke warm. I pound it as fast as I can. when I get to the end I start gagging, not only because it’s nasty but mostly because my stomach isn’t big enough to hold all that! I can’t even drink that much water at a time. I leave about an inch at the bottom of my glass every time. It seems like a person’s size would matter. I’m 5’5″ and 130 lbs. It feels like my stomach is going to pop! All that day I’ll be really bloated EVERYWHERE and the next day I’ll be four pounds heavier from all that water retention. I naturally eat a low sodium diet, I’m salt sensitive. I recently had blood work done prior to this cleanse and my sodium levels were on the very low end to the healthy normal range. Does this not work on me because my body thinks it needs more salt? Two heaping teaspoons is practically a tablespoon. I wouldn’t want to use any more than a tablespoon. I do the smooth move tea every night. It gives me such terrible pains and cramping. It’s hard to sleep at night sometimes from the pain. I love this cleanse except for the elimination requirements. How much is everyone eliminating from their bowls at a time? My husband says every time he goes it’s about a cup. For me it’s about a tablespoon.

Day 2: I’ve done the SWF both days so far, but instead of the 3-7 movements that the website describes, I’m having closer to 10-12! Is that crazy? And they’ve been pretty much liquid from the start…I’m thinking that this is because I eased in with the soups/juices and OJ prior to starting the cleanse. I’m feeling good though, and between the 3 days easing in and 2 days cleansing so far I’ve already lost 5 lbs!

Is there anyone else doing the MC at this time?

Day 2 – I woke up with a sinus headache. But after the SW and few trips to the bathroom it went away.

Yep its my last day today and the 4th time i’ve completed the cleanse.

Headaches are the body detoxing and will pass. Keep up with the lemonade so you don’t get hungry or light headed.

I spend my time on the MC writing menus and shopping so that when i come off it i don’t want to pig out on everything i see.
Stay strict with your eating at least for a week afterwards

Day 1 – This morning turned out better than I thought. The video about the SWF was extremely helpful. On my previous MC’s it was the worst part of the experience. Today, I was able to get in down in three sets of swallows. I used to heat it up and it was gross. Thank for the tip.

This is Day 3 and last night I drank the SM tea and had BAD stomach cramps that woke me up around four am. I had two loose stools. Then I did the SWF after I went to workout and when I went to the bathroom, it was yellow and loose, but not foul smelling. I have lots of energy and feel very clear headed. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
