Group Cleanse Support Topic: Psychological and Emotional Effects (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for The Psychological and Emotional Effects for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.
To learn more about the value of Group Cleansing, check out this report.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

What is going through your mind? We have thoughts that seem out of control when we are in our daily grind – many of these revolve around food. We may also feel stress that in turn causes us to eat, to have emotional reactions. Many people report feeling in more control while doing The Master Cleanse – alongside a sense of clarity. Do commercials about food drive you crazy? Are you more patient than ever?

If you are not participating, you can follow the post to get inspiration to try the cleanse or answer the most basic question: Is The Master Cleanse right for me?

Keep it simple, just talk in your own language about your daily experience. The more you are yourself, the more others will connect with you – and the more you can connect with what they are saying – which is what we want after all, a strong support network through a group experience.

If you haven’t yet, go ahead and register for the Group Cleanse to get our “Guided Cleanse Experience” email sequence timed to correspond with your registration and the important days as the come up during our scheduled group cleanses.

Yes- quitting is not an option! We can do this. Sometimes 10 days can seem like forever, but in reality time flies by. I am doing 1 fun thing for myself every day. Monday night I went to see my God daughters. Last night I went to see a drama group perform monologues and musical numbers. Tonight I am getting a massage with my hubby ( and hopefully a happy ending with my hubby when I get home !!!). Thursday night I am teaching a class I love, Friday meeting more friends…… you get the idea….. feed yourself in another way.

For the dinner you have to go to- Drink a lemonade before you go in and have another one in your purse. The playing with food, is a good idea if you don’t want questions!

Hi January 11th Master Cleansers! I have big goals this year and one of them was changing my body weight and resuming to my normal poundage. I want to look good. I want my finances to look good and I need vitality to get there. Day 3 is awesome! I did my morning salt water flush. I don’t mind the salty water but can’t stand the night laxative. I do look forward to kicking my maple syrup spoons d because I need rapid weight loss to get my TV body back I have added 30 minutes to exercise on. Keep going people…we can do this!! Every time I am tempted, I tell myself – I am NOT that kind of girl. No temptations are worth breaking my goals. I want a new figure and to enjoy the new experience that comes with it. A big YAYYYYYYYY to all of you cleansers. Stand firm! Talk bold! Dream Big!!

Day 2 the first part was easy cause I’m too busy to think about it anything. This evening has been challenging. I have thought of my decision to do this cleanse and remind myself of the goals I have set. On the other hand I’m frustrated with my job situation which relates to where I live. My thoughts are scrutinizing and I’m trying to stay objective. Just take it day by day.

Lemonade Day # 2 – I decided to do this cleanse during my week of night shifts. The last two nights I have come on to really yummy food in the breakroom. Last night, I had no inclincation whatsoever to partake. Tonight – it’s much harder. I am more hungry than I was yesterday, probably because I have not had enough to drink today. My sleep/wake schedule is all messed up – which is helpful in some ways but counter productive in others.

I am determined to make it to day #5.

      Only Day 5?

When I started, I thought “I can make it 5 days – I’ll try 5 days and see how I feel and then maybe go 10”. My husband (the source of all wisdom) said “If you start out thinking you will only go 5 days, you will only go 5 days”. So, I am almost convinced I can go 10 days…. 

Jennifer, when I went to work on Monday (Day 1!) there were cupcakes in the break room where I work. I have to go in and out of that room multiple times throughout the day because that’s where my mailbox is and where the copier is located. After about the 3rd time seeing those cupcakes I actually pointed at them and said “No!” out loud. We have to keep our sense of humor to help us get through this.

Here I am, determined to be strong on Day 2. I have to attend a meeting tonight and dinner is being provided. Two challenges for me: 1. Being around the sights and smells of good food and 2. Dealing with the comments people are bound to make about me not eating. I already had someone at work tell me my lemonade looks like urine, and I haven’t told anyone here I am cleansing because I don’t want any negativity about it. I also don’t want people to be scrutinizing me to see if I look like I’m sticking with it or have lost weight.

Do yourself a favor. Put food on a plate tonight and move it around with a fork. This works great! Just act more interested in the meeting than in eating. I have done this many times.

Regards the urine comment…..have the person look up urine therapy. People actually do drink their urine!! Thankfully, we are not doing that!

It is said that Day 2 and 3 are the hardest. I will make it to Day 4, as will all of us.

I use my night time free time to read or watch inspiring DVD’s, not junk. I don’t know why, but when I cleanse, my usually considerate husband makes dynamite meals! And he usually has dessert as well. Nothing elaborate, but something. If it gets to be too much, I go into another room. It is not overwhelming, but it is odd.

But last night, we also watched Alabama/Clemson. Good game!

Deb- I agree! I ran errands last night while my hubby took care of dinner and clean-up! BUT I miss that too. For us family dinners are an important way to connect. I am happy to take a 14 day leave of absence but I know I’ll be happy to get back to that.

What I like about this cleanse over others, is that it is simple! I have done a variety of others and making good, nutritious 100% clean foods all the time is exhausting. I imagine this cleanse will get mentally tougher, but not so draining of my time and energy!

    good luck ladies!

I have made the personal choice to stay on certain meds throughout this particular cleanse. Usually I would not do this, but one prescription is not the kind you just STOP. I have come off of many medications this past year and now I am only down to two, and only taking slivers of those. This is such a personal choice, because you want the maximum of positive effects for your body! Just getting back to cleansing–after a 7-yr absence is a HUGE thumbs up.

I can’t believe how much time thinking about, preparing, consuming food takes up in a day. This is my first day on the cleanse and I have so much time to get other things accomplished!

This is very typical! I have experienced this every time I’ve cleansed!
