Group Cleanse Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush (My Experience)

This page is a Support Topic Page for the Topic of Detox and The Salt Water Flush for our Master Cleanse Group Cleanse. Please check that page for details on our Quarterly Cleanses and our Individual Cleanses.

The Group Cleanse will not only give us the forum to support each other, doing The Master Cleanse together, but it also enables us to track our experiences by setting standards to the conversation. If we all just posted random thoughts we would get a lot less value from the comments. But if the comments are structured, and relevant by time and topic, we can gain even more insight, more quickly and more effectively. Therefore we ask participants to start and finish the Master Cleanse on the same dates.

This page is the place for participants in the The Master Cleanse Group Experience to post their daily entries. To post, simply leave a comment. You don’t have to be logged in to post. Please provide 100 words each day – don’t worry; that’s not that much. The paragraph below, for example, is 100 words.

Support Topic: Detox and The Salt Water Flush

The Salt Water Flush (SWF) might be the hardest part of the Master Cleanse, but it doesn’t have to be. It is essential to the cleanse because it facilitates the detox by flushing your system. What is working and what is not working. How are your movements? Are they successful? What do they look like? Are they getting lighter or darker? Are the becoming more frequent? Do you have other signs of detoxing, like breakouts or white tongue? The Master Cleanse is about Detox and daily eliminations are critical to the success of the cleanse. Is this Detox Diet successful so far?

I will tell you, that this was the first morning I did NOT do the SWF because we went to the early service at church. Right in the middle of services, it was the first time since starting TMC that I had abdominal discomfort and also a headache. My back started hurting. The minute we got home I did the SWF and it all left! I’m convinced that we’re suppose to do that for a reason. If you can stomach it, it’s not an option.

Happy Sunday ladies!! I did another successful swf last night. It takes over an hour for my body to get things moving… at this stage of the cleanse, without the swf or a colonic I have no action going on in my colon!
I agree with Cathy- the right salt is very important. They recommend Himalayan salt of celtic sea salt. I have tried both but prefer the latter as it dissolves more easily in my opinion. only 4 more swf flushes to go!!!
Suzette- can you do the swf in the evening? I have been doing that when I don’t have extra time in the morning. It works out fine. I was initially concerned about a bedtime mishap (well to be honest I think my hubby was more worried than I lol)- but as long as you give it about 2 hours in total, you will be good to go and sleep like a baby!

For some reason today I had some pretty intense abdominal cramping for a while. Poop happens – and happens and happens. More trips to the loo today but not that much at a time. I’m amazed that anything still comes out. I have worried at times that I’m full of it, and it seems that perhaps I have been. Hmmm. After the MC I won’t be. So there, body!

I have a pretty foul taste in my mouth, and the nighttime tea had me up around 3am with some minor cramping. No BM though. Steeping tea less will help.

My sense of smell is amazing! Much improved. We went to Trader Joes today and I was enjoying the aromas. Grocery shopping was not difficult.

I will be ready to say adios to the SWF. I do it, but it’s not my favorite thing. Being on the down side is a wonderful thing.

Day 6- The past 5 days I have only been drinking the herbal laxative tea since I can’t seem to make myself get out of bed 2.5 hours before work. The SWF usually takes 2 hours out of my day. I saved the SWF for this weekend, I timed it, drank it warm through a straw at 9:30 am and less than 10min I was running to the toilet. by 11:30 am I was finally done with my business. This is normal for me, last cleanse I did i had more time in the morning and was able to do the SWF every morning and it was still 2 hours. Uff, I would like to do it for the remainder of the cleanse but I really don’t think it is practical for my schedule.

So – I did the disastorou SWF on Thursday night and had 2-3 movements. Since then, nothing. I had my laxative tea last night prior to lying down at work. I am now off unti Weds (yeah! Those night shifts kill me!).

I think I will try again, and send my daughters to the store for finer sea salt (all I had was coarse) that is more fresh (not sure how old the stuff in the cupboard was!).

Prior to the SWF I was having 2-3 movements a day.

I am also now having those cold symptoms, mostly runny nose. I guess the cough I had the last couple of days was more post nasal drip than reflux.

Thank you for all your help and support! I would never have made it this far without your encouragement!

Jennifer, are you using non-iodized sea salt? If not, this could be making you ill. Regular salt will make you very sick on this flush. I ask because you mentioned using coarse salt.

I did a colonic last night instead of a SWF… I don’t think my body can handle both in one day and I think the colonic is even better as you get 3/4 flushes! Glad I went… it was very successful. I will do SWF today and tomorrow and another colonic Monday!
No cravings going on although I did dream of winning a dinner at a steakhouse ( I’m vegetarian lol) in a fancy restaurant with some business gurus! It was pretty cool as my hubby was talking to me last night about some business ideas he has.
Hope everyone is doing well today!

Loving these attitudes! I don’t know if it helps anyone, but these SWF are no saltier than boullion. I actually tell myself I’m drinking bouillion, and since it’s warm and salty, and I’m drinking it through a straw, my body buys that explanation. I put the straw back in my mouth some so that not ALL my tastebuds are involved. It helps me.

Today was my 3rd time doing the SWF. Within minutes I had barfed it all back up. Okay, it wasn’t pleasant the first 2 times, but this morning was a quick reaction and discouraging because I’d been able to do it before. I feel like I’m moving backwards as far as the SWF. Other than that, full speed ahead. Barf happens, but it will not keep me from pressing on.

I barfed it up yesterday morning too…. but I had zero problems doing it 12 hours later. Let you body talk to you. If you barfed it up- trust that it wasn’t meant to be. Try again later. I used a little less salt the second time….. just to help me out :)

Well after the Salt water flush fiasco yesterday morning, I tried it again last night. I used 1.5 tsp salt instead of 2 and I had no problems getting ti down! Hooray! I did it fairly late though- 9:30 ( which is my usual bed time lol)…. I waited almost an hour and still didn’t feel much urges. But as soon as I sat on the throne, the body did what it needed to do. I was a little concerned that something unpleasant would happen after I fell asleep ( after 2 BM). But no- I slept like a log!!! woohoo!!!
I have had no huge detox symptoms yesterday or today. Not 100% energized but the sluggishness I was feeling on day 3 has gone!
