Am I Done The Master Cleanse when I have a Pink Tongue?

The most commonly agreed-on sign that your Master Cleanse is done, is the “Master Cleanse Tongue” the pink tongue emerging (or returning) as your body moves through stages of detox. There is some controversy to this as well as there are different reasons why one may develop a white fuzzy tongue, but Stanley Burroughs himself noted: “One of the best signals of the completed diet is when the formerly coated and fuzzy tongue is clear pink and clean looking. During the diet it becomes very badly coated.”

Use The “Master Cleanse Tongue” to Gauge Your Detox

It's thought that your tongue becomes very white while toxins are being eliminated, much like when you are sick. As the toxins are reduced in numbers, this effect decreases. Some people never get white tongues at all, having had fewer toxins.

Another sign it may be time to end the cleanse are:

  • When your movements are growing increasingly clear. Like with the pink tongue, clear movements are giving signs that detox is waning in severity.
  • Detox Events / Healing Crisis Wane: Likewise with the master cleanse white tongue, events of detox, such as breakouts, cold/flu symptoms, rashes etc. (what we call healing events), are disappearing (if you had them at all). Note, detox is a funny thing. Sometimes you'll go through 3 separate master cleanses before getting to the point of a healing event. Sometimes the earlier detoxes were working through aspects that didn't provoke a clearly recognizable detox symptom, but when you get to a toxic storage strong hold, be it physical or emotional or both, those deeply sequester toxic memory and substances will send your body into reaction.
  • If you have an overwhelming desire to eat. This sensation must be clearly recognized, and it's usually easy to do so. It goes beyond the psychological, you should end the cleanse.

Have been doing cleanse 12 years…. Every cleanse is different…..
On day 18 this time…… Day 3 and 4 hellish with body aches…..
I’ve decided to use cell salts by hands…. You absorb them under your tongue….I am glad for their help….
I also am doing only the lemon…. Sure don’t need the maple syrup or cayenne….just depends what I am needing…. Ok I also seem to not need the laxative tea…thank God.. My gut appreciates it!! I use a glycerin suppository in the morning… That tea is exhausting…… :) going a month this time…

My husband and I made it through 2 2/3 days on the cleanse. I mostly suffered through it with horrible headaches while my husband only had ‘pressure’ in his head. This afternoon my husband finally called off the fast (for now) – I think he was tired of listening to my groaning. I woke up from an ice-bag-on-the-head nap to smell COFFEE. I will do more research before attempting again. I used a little extra maple syrup trying to ease the headaches – nothing seemed to help except the elimination after the salt-water flush. It made me want to do MORE of them. Can you do that or is it not advised? Those headaches were crushing!

From my personal experience with the cleanse, withdrawl from caffeine detox is typically one of the first hurdles I face. If I have been drinking a lot of caffeinated beverages every day, this usually comes in the form of severe headaches 2-3 days after starting the cleanse. Instead, I prefer to wean myself off coffee for several weeks before the cleanse to avoid the added stress and pain. My wife and I are currently on day 15 of a cleanse and we had been drinking about one cup of coffee per day before starting. Fortunately, we only experienced mild headaches between days two and three, but I sincerely empathize with you because I too have experienced that awful, brain-splitting pain. I hope our experience helps you and your husband and happy cleansing.

Lemon Diet Day 12. I was doing SWF for 10days and I switched to Senna tea on 10th day night. I had a movement on 11th morning. Last night I also drank tea, but I didn’t have a movement this morning. IS my cleansing finished? tongue turned to pink. Also I want to loose more weight cuz I didn’t loose much. Should I keep going? should I start SWF again? or Do I need to stop here? Thanks
