There are Three Secrets to The Master Cleanse:

What is the Lemonade Diet?
The Lemonade diet aka The Master Cleanse is simple yet effective way to detox your body. Here is description of this diet by one of the experts on this specific Cleanse – Tom Woloshyn:

The Lemonade Diet begins with preparing the Lemonade. During the diet, you will only consume the Lemonade that you make each day. In order to ensure that it is fresh and will retain as much of the nutrients and energy as possible, you should prepare the Lemonade just moments before drinking it.
Lemonade Diet Ingredients

How to Make the Lemonade
Start by rolling a Lemon on the cutting board to get it nice and juicy. Cut the lemon along its belly and grind it on the juicer. Do this until you have juiced half your lemons, or until you have no more room in your juicer.
- Measure 2 Tablespoons of Fresh Lemon Juice into your large cup.
- Now measure and at 2 Tablespoons of Rich Maple Syrup to the cup.
- Measure and add 1/10 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper to the cup (or more to taste).
- Mix a and drink immediately.
While on the Lemonade Diet, you can and should drink plenty of Pure Water. I drink 1 cup as a chaser after each cup of Lemonade. You can drink more throughout the day. Try to avoid drinking more than double the amount of Lemonade each day.
Drinking enough water helps to wash out the toxins being released into your blood stream and out of your body during the cleanse. It also helps to prevent possible headaches as well as feeling of hunger or cravings that surface during the detox.
Tips on how to make the Master Cleanse Lemonade right
- 1. Store your lemons on the counter to ripen, NOT in the fridge. Enzymes are dormant in the fridge. You want those enzymes. If you buy 50 lemons in advance, as most people do, store 40 in the fridge at a time and take the 10 most ripe lemons out for your first day or two.
- 2. Next, cut the lemon and juice each half on the juicer (If using an electric juicer you may want to juice the whole allotment at once, since you will not be sure how many lemons will yield the proper amount of juice. You may initially find you will waste a lemon or two).
- 3. Add the rest of the lemonade ingredients into the glass, mix immediately, and drink. I like to drink the glass quickly because it seems to hit my hunger spot quickly. I usually only drink when I need to, and when enough time has passed to allow for a nice spread over the day as I try to manage my daily quota.
- 4. Drink your lemonade as soon as you can after you made it (5-10 minutes after it was made). If you allow the lemonade to sit with the Cayenne pepper in it too long as it will steep. The lemonade will get too spicy and that may prevent you from drinking enough lemonade during the day.
(Note: You might get a kick out of licking the tablespoon measure after adding your maple syrup. You may even come to look forward to this part of the process –just don’t “eat” the syrup in quantity).
If you are doing The Salt Water Flush, you should drink your first glass of lemonade after your first bowel movement to allow the process of elimination to begin.
The Lemonade Diet Concentrate – the most common mistake
Previously mentioned on this website was my preference to drink Pre-mix Lemonade. I now understand a critical flaw to this plan. The longer your Lemonade sits, the more enzymes die. If you need to Pre-mix your Lemonade, then you should only mix a concentrate of just 2 ingredients :
- The Fresh Lemon Juice
- And the Rich Maple Syrup.

I have heard of, and known, people who go for 30 and more.
today is my first day and i feel ok for now. i am not hungry i don’t feel bad.
i need to lose 20 kg if it is possible in 30 days:) but i have a problem with maple syrup. i live in Turkey and we do not use maple syrup even most of us do not know what the maple syrup is. i bought it from internet and it is so expensive . what can ? use if ? do not have any maple syrup? is only lemon and pepper enough ? what do you think?
There may be a substitute but something more must be added. If you read the article it points out the maple syrup is what gives a person the energy. Can you get molasses? I will try and do some research and get back with any suggestions.
I’m 20 years old and I am 206 pounds. I am wanting to be back at 185. So there are two reasons why I’m doing this cleanse. Im doing it to become more healthy and to lose weight. Today is day 1 and it is so hard. I havent been hungry so far but I’m craving food. I’m wanting to do this cleanse for 7 days. I hope I can last that long. At least 5 days would be good. I just really need some motivation. Can anyone give me some words of encouragement.
Katrina- stick with it as long as you can.. it is suggested to do ta full 10 days. You can do it.. just remember that your body IS being nourished.. the hunger is mostly psychological.. meaning when your mind wants to eat- NOT your body needing fuel. GO girl! You can do it!
Hi, me and my mum we both want to be fit. She thinks im fine but i want to help encourage her that if i try this diet then we could do something like this together. From what i have read it doesnt sound safe but alot of things human do in diets are not safe example eating fatty foods. But doe this diet really work? I would appriciate it if you gave me advice on what to do and not do as im only 16 :L

I am 18, and so far this detox – not diet – is working. I am about 167cm and used to be 59kg. Now, I am on my fourth day, and I am 56kg. For me, the second day was the hardest because I was so tempted to quit. But after researching around, I found that other people experienced similar feelings as well. Also, beware, you may or may not feel nauseated and dizzy, or and may also experience headaches. I felt quite nauseated on my third day for about five hours, but I took a nap, then went out for some fresh air and felt slightly better.
Anyway, if you want to try this detox, you should go for it. But just check with your GP if you have any health concerns. It is really a test of will. I am a food lover, and going on this detox is extremely tough for me. But so far, I have not felt weak or dizzy, and instead feel quite normal. If you want to lose a little more weight on the detox, try light exercises such as walking, yoga, pilates, nothing too strenuous. The book says you should cut down your exercise regime by about 60%-70%. If you can’t really be bothered, just put on some of your favourite songs and dance to them.
There are two other variations of this diet. There is a ‘relaxed version’ and a ’50:50 version’. But I honestly suggest doing either the original version or the 50:50 version. The relaxed version seems alright, but I find that it parts me from my beloved foods too long. In the end, its up to you. So good luck!
Do you have to put maple syrup in, whats the point of it cause i kinda hate maple syrup so that really doesnt sound pleasent to drink at all.

Yes, you do have to put maple syrup in it because that is what gives you the energy and the nutrients while you are on the detox. However, for my detox which I bought from GNC Australia, it does not use maple syrup anymore because apparently it does not provide enough nutrients or something like that. So now, it is using Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup. This syrup smells like fairly sweet and rich soy sauce. And mixed with the other ingredients, the drink tastes like….Lipton Ice Lemon Tea with a spicy zing and a bit more….soy sauce-y taste. If that makes sense. Its a bit hard to drink for the first day or so, but I am on my fourth day, and it tastes much better now that I am used to it.
Lemonade Diet Day 1
The first day is almost ending. I have to say, I cannot wait for the week to be over already. Did the SWF this morning (on an empty stomach), and it tasted absolutely horrible. Will do the shot option tomorrow and see how it goes. However, not much BM today. Only about 4. Is this normal?
Drank the senna tea as well about 7pm, stomach is rumbling and feels a bit funny, but still no BM. Only about 500ml (from 2litre) left of the lemon/syrup drink to go. Feeling quite bloated. But definitely have not felt truly hungry, just a lot of craving pangs that are torturing me to death.
Ok I’m starting the cleanse tomo slightly nervous about it but been wantin to try it for a while now would appreciate any advise or guidance throughout I’m aiming for the 7days and maybe more depending on how I cope! I’m a stay at home mum so am

Master Cleanse Day 2
Yesterday was my first day on the Lemonade diet, and I already hit a rough spot. I did the ease in for two days, and yesterday I did lemonade and a laxative tea at night. This morning I woke up at 4am with HORRIBLE stomach cramps. I ran to the bathroom, where I had awful diarrhea. I broke out in a cold, tingly sweat, and I felt like I was going to pass out. The room was spinning and kept getting brighter and darker. My ears were ringing so loud that it hurt. Was it too early to take the laxative? Is this a normal thing? Any suggestions? I really want to finish my first Master Cleanse with no major problems. Thanks!
Day 7 Lemonade:
hey! that same thing happened to me.. I actually almost completely passed out and managed to somehow even fall off the toilet. I was seriously having second thoughts after that happened because the dizziness was unbearable and I was sweating and extremely pale. It was very scary. The fortunate thing is that it hasn’t happened again since my 2nd day. I’ve take simple precautions to keep it from happening such as taking my time getting up very slowly and making my way to the bathroom when I can not wait any longer to use the bathroom. also, the bathroom i was using has a very harah light, i think that may have made it more stressful for my body durig an already stressful process, so now I just have a candle light lit and it stays dark and a much more calming atmosphere. steady breathig the whole time is important too, don’t hold your breath during the process either. I’ve still taken the laxative at night and everything has worked pretty smoothly since. GOOOOD LUCK!
