Are you wondering if there is a Master Cleanse Supplement to take instead of doing the full master cleanse, with the mono-liquid, modified juice fast that is the lemonade diet, the salt water flush, detox tea and ease-out?
Yes?
Then, no.
The answer is just plain no.
Sorry.
There is not magic pill or formula to take that will replicate the master cleanse effects and benefits.
But what I think most of you are asking is:
Can I take Supplements On The Master Cleanse
The answer is maybe.
In strict burroughs’ classic master cleanse, the answer is flat out no saying in his words:
Some people want to take vitamin pills or food supplements while on the diet. This frequently fails to produce the desired result. There are many reasons. As the lymphatic glands become clogged, they are no longer able to assimilate and digest even the best of foods. As we cleanse our bodies and free our cells and glands of toxins that clog and paralyze our assimilation, we free our various organs and processes to do their proper jobs. Note earlier about all the necessary vitamins and minerals are in the lemonade, and therefore we do not need an additional supply in most cases.
There are a few reasons why you wouldn’t want to take a supplement.
- The capsule, pill, tablet etc. causes a digestive action in your gut with no food to work with
- The supplement isn’t 100% natural. You’re introducing more toxins into your system while trying to detox. Doesn’t make much sense.
But there are also a few very valid reasons why you would consider taking a supplement with the most obvious one is that the lemonade diet is in fact deficient in certain nutrients:
But what you have to remember before you go writing off the master cleanse’s nutritional value as unacceptable please note those are just a few of many. The Master cleanse also delivers a significant amount of the following nutrients (you can find the full nutritional analysis here).
Now you have a balanced knowledge base of the nutritional reality of the master cleanse lemonade diet it’s clear we might want to supplement in the following areas:
- Protein: 99% Synthesized naturally within the body. Not needed in short term.
- Amino Acids: Use to make proteins.
- Vitamin D: Mostly, and most beneficially available through sunshine (and it’s free and soothing)
And the rest, I have found them available via transdermal supplement patches. If you’re going to supplement why not bypass the digestive system, avoiding the digestion of it all, but also get way more absorption and bioavailability.
- Cholesterol
- Omega (3)
- Vitamin K
- Niacin (B3)
- Vitamin (B12)
- Selenium
- Phosphorus
- Sodium

But know this.
Supplementation is a key aspect of our modern ability to hack our health. Yes our bodies are innately intelligent and have cleansing system already doing a good job. So if you’re already asking why should I do a cleanse when my body already cleanses itself, you would probably also be asking yourself that if I were going to cleanse, I should not be lacking for nutrients, not one, not even for a minute and not even if they are chemical, and causing imbalances in the process.
We too are innately intelligent and able to improve on the systems of our environment (and destroy them too). Maybe we’re not there yet. But we’ve come a long way. All I am saying is, be careful about the butterfly effect when it comes to supplements. Adding in doses of one effects the balance of others.
There is also a noted cocktail effect that happens when so much drugs, medicine, supplements, chemicals, toxins are introduced into our bodies.
This is what Stanley had to say:
Vitamin pills and supplements do not grow on trees as such but rather come to us in fruits, berries, vegetables and plants. Man will never take a group of natural or synthetic foods; process and combine them in a variety of products, and come up with anything equal or better than the original. They have lost much of their basic life and energy by combining them according to a man made concept. Many dangerous side effects can occur because of improper and unequal balances present. Stay with the natural laws of balance. First one must decide if God is right or if man is right. If God is right then man and his ideas of processing— tearing apart and rearranging— are likely to be wrong.
My thoughts are much more progressive. I believe we’re evolutionarily designed to overcome our environment one day. But for now, be careful in what you trust your body to. Do your research. Chose wisely.
olive oil or fish oil?
I am iron deficient, so would I be able to still do the cleanse, while just taking the iron pills.
what about taking a supplement like Bowel Detox or Small Intestine detox?
I was told that I should take a probiotic to help restore healthy bacteria..? Is that true?
